IND 288/4 in 84 Overs | India vs West Indies Highlights of 2nd Test 2023 Day 1: Virat Kohli-Ravindra Jadeja Partnership Brings India Back On Track

After the second session was grabbed by the West Indians, India return strong and they will leave Kraigg Braithwaite under pressure with Virat Kohli nearing his hundred and looking in great touch. India, meanwhile will look to bat West Indies out in the first innings by going big on the second day. 

After a short comeback, West Indies are again pushed back by Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja's partnership which is now of 96 runs. West Indies have tried to keep things tight and they will have the second new ball available soon. 

Fifty! Virat Kohli hits another boundary to bring up his half-century. He looks in his rhythm now with some quick runs. Another fifty and he will want to make it big in his 500th International appearance. 

After losing 4 wickets in quick succession, India is currently in a phase of rebuild led by Virat Kohli and he will look for some steady support from Ravindra Jadeja. The duo is looking for some consolidation before taking the attack to the opposition. 

Out! Ajinkya Rahane gets cleaned up by Shannon Gabriel and West Indies have come back strongly in this session. They have broke in the Indian middle order and now looking at the lower order after a disappointing first session. 

Some quick loss of wickets for India as after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma also gets cleaned up by Jomel Warrican and India get into a little consolidation phase with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane on the crease. 

Out! Another failure for Shubman Gill and it is now becoming concerning for him. Yet to get a big score after four innings since the World Test Championship final. This time he fails to put in much to the total and nicks one behind from Kemar Roach. 

Out! Finally a breakthrough by Jason Holder. Yashasvi Jaiswal goes for an expansive drive and edges it to the hands of Kirk McKenzie in wide gully position. West Indies will be slightly relieved by the wicket, 

Lunch On Day 1 of the 2nd Test. But till now West Indies bowlers were not able to troubled the Indian batters and now both the batters are set and look towards a big partnership like the first Test. 

Fifty!  This time from the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal. He has played a big knock in his last innings and looking towards another as he completes his half-century. Didn't look troubled at all and the application looks solid for now. 

Fifty! Rohit Sharma reaches his fifty in style as he dismissed a short of length ball from Kemar Roach and deposits it in the stands. It has been a easy outing for the Indian skipper till now and he will look to accelerate now and make it big. 

The Indian openers looked unscathed in the opening session as they look towards another big partnership. the pitch doesn't seem to have any demons and there will be a lot of scoring opportunity available for the Indian batters. 

Indian Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma start cautiously although they have looked to pounce on the opportunity of any bad balls. Currently they are focused to build a good platform and not to lose in any early wickets. 

Both Indian openers are at the crease. Mukesh Kumar, a consistent performer for Bengal in domestic cricket has been handed a debut as Shardul Thakur has been left out with a sore left groin. 20 years old batter Kirk McKenzie debut for West Indies replacing Raymon Reifer. Shannon Gabriel replaces Rakheem Cornwall.
