India Win by an Innings and 141 Runs | IND vs WI Highlights of 1st Test 2023: Ravi Ashwin Ends With 12 Wickets, Yashasvi Jaiswal Dazzles on Debut as Visitors Register Dominant Win

What a win this is for India! They dominated right from the first day and did not let go of control at any point in the match. Ravichandran Ashwin's fifer on Day 1 set the tone with West Indies managing just 150. The home side always were playing the catch-up game since then and then came a magnificent knock from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who impressed all with his 171. India, expectedly declared their effort on Day 3 with 421/5 on the board and then Ashwin again starred, taking seven wickets to blow away the West Indies within three days of the Test match. An emphatic way to begin the new WTC cycle for India. 

OUT! And there goes the final wicket! India have won the Test match by an innings and 141 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin taking a seven-wicket haul in the second innings! It has been a totally one-sided match and India deservedly win this match with West Indies proving to be no match. Earlier in the day, India declared halfway through Day 3 and India just needed the remainder of the day to win the match. A convincing performance this for India, who have opened their WTC campaign in the new cycle in some style. West Indies now need a lot ot thinking to do before the next Test, which begins on July 20.

Ravichandran Ashwin again and this time, Alzarri Joseph attempts to hit a big shot with one man in the deep, who he attempted to clear. But that he could not with Shubman Gill taking a simple catch. The debutant played some attacking shots and batted with a positive intent but could not carry on and make it a big one. West Indies in real danger of losing within this day by Day 4. OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin has struck again and this time, has gotten the wicket of Jermaine Blackwood. Ashwin came round the wicket and missed the ball which spun sharply to hit the pad. The ball bounced off the pad and went to first slip and Blackwood reviewed it. But it was an unsuccessful one as replay showed the ball would have crashed into the stumps. The Indian spinners have made their presence felt once again in this Test match with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja taking one wicket apiece as we head to Tea on Day 3. India have had complete control of the match so far and at no point did it look like West Indies had any sort of an upper hand. The home side have lost both openers and still trail by 244 runs. India would on the other hand, look to take as many wickets as possible today to put West Indies under more pressure/

India have continued with the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, hoping for one more wicket before tea on this day. Kraigg Brathwaite and Raymon Reifer would, on the other hand, look to see out the session and hope to stay as long as possible at the crease and try to reduce the deficit. 

OUT! Ravindra Jadeja has struck, dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul. The ball had just enough turn as it struck Chanderpaul on his pads after he missed it. The umpire gave it out but he reviewed it and the decision was eventually given umpire's call with the ball clipping the leg-stump. India, with a 271-run lead, have a dominant place in this Test match and West Indies have gotten off to a slow start with Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul out in the middle. India now will unleash both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin to trouble the Windies openers here. 

India have declared with a mammoth 271-run lead. Rohit Sharma perhaps wanted Ishan Kishan to get off the mark in Test cricket as the declaration came right after that happened. West Indies now need a much-improved batting performance if they hope to make India bat again in this Test match. 

OUT! And finally West Indies have the wicket of Virat Kohli! After dropping him twice on Day 3, Kohli hit the ball, which had a lot of turn and bounce straight to leg-slip. It is lunch on Day 3 and India have continued their dominance in this match. Yashasvi Jaiswal played some aggressive shots and was dismissed with West Indies also getting Ajinkya Rahane's wicket cheaply. But Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja continued with the latter taking on the bowling on a couple of occasions. India now lead by 250 at lunch. 

FIFTY for Virat Kohli! The former Indian captain has churned out a half-century on a difficult batting track and would want to make it big from here on. He has had his share of struggles and also got a few reprieves but he would not complain. India now lead in excess off 200. 

OUT! West Indies have another wicket and Ajinkya Rahane has to depart here. Kemar Roach, the experienced fast bowler, has struck on the third day with Rahane handing a simple catch to Jermaine Blackwood. India have once again lost two wickets in quick time.
