West Indies Win By Four Runs | India vs West Indies Highlights of 1st T20I 2023: Bowlers, Rovman Powell Star As Hosts Clinch Victory

That's it. Arshdeep Singh tried his best but it was not enough. Fell in the second last delivery of the over and all Mukesh could get was a single off the last ball. India would be very disappointed with their outing the bat. Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson were almost there but that one over from Jason Holder dragged the game in India's favour. For the first time in the tour, West Indies lead in a series.

Out! Axar Patel skies one trying to charge halfway into the pitch and it is Shimron Hetmyer again settling under the ball and taking it cleanly. This is now a very difficult situation for India as Axar was the last recognised batter.

Out! Tilak Varma's exceptional debut knock comes to and end. He really took on the Caribbean attack under pressure and pushed them in backfoot. This time gets foxed by the slowness of the wicket mistiming one from Romario Shepherd straight to the hands of deep square leg.

Suryakumar Yadav, the best in the format, has already started to show it why he is regarded so! He played some good shots with the last one being a cut on the off-side for a six off Alzarri Joseph's bowling. India would need him to carry on and this chase would be an easy one if it happens.

West Indies have begun their innings with spin of Akeal Hosein as India opted for the similar opening partnership that they had for the last two ODIs. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are out in the middle and they will look to maximise the powerplay. 

West Indies have had a below-par total against India in this first T20I. Debutant Mukesh Kumar could not get a wicket but was pretty decent with the ball in hand as he helped his side restrict the hosts to just 149. Rovman Powell top-scored with 48 runs with Nicholas Pooran also scoring 41 runs. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh got two wickets apiece while Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya had one each.

Rovman Powell is starting to play his shots here and he will look to take West Indies to a good total. Yuzvendra Chahal would certainly rue the fact that he dropped him in what was a straightforward chance. With Shimron Hetmyer at the other end, fans at the stadium can expect some fireworks in these death overs. 

OUT! India have the big wicket of Nicholas Pooran! The left-hander, who tried to break the shackles, could only find Tilak Varma near the boundary. A big big wicket for India and West Indies are under pressure here. They will need either Rovman Powell or anyone else to hit some big shots to take West Indies to a competitive total. Kuldeep Yadav could have had another wicket in his final over when Rovman Powell skied one in a bit to up the ante. But Shubman Gill could not get his hands to the ball. But a good shift from Kuldeep, conceding only 20 runs and taking one wicket. Nicholas Pooran, who has been respectful of Kuldeep, will now look to unleash.

We are halfway into the West Indies innings and it has been a very entertaining one. India got the upper hand with Yuzvendra Chahal's two wickets after Brandon King had hit a couple of good shots. Then Nicholas Pooran turned up the heat for West Indies with some clean hitting and taking the fight to India. But India struck with Kuldeep Yadav dismissing Johnson Charles courtesy of a good catch from debutant Tilak Varma. The match is poised beautifully with Pooran holding the key for West Indies.
