India vs West Indies, 1st T20I 2022 Highlights: Batters Shine, Ravi Bishnoi Stars on Debut As Hosts Take Series Lead With Six-Wicket Victory

India have the series lead and their domination in the ongoing limited-overs tour continue as a tense, yet dominant victory come by their path in Kolkata. Ravi Bishnoi starred with a double-wicket over on debut and India, with a collective effort with the ball, managed to restrict West Indies to just 157. With the bat, India got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan putting 64 runs in the first six overs. Then there came a phase when the boundaries stopped coming by and India lost some wickets but a 48-run stand between Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav ensured that the hosts got over the line with seven balls and six wickets to spare. 

India win by six wickets! And Venkatesh Iyer hits a six to seal the victory in style at his IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders' home ground. At one point of time, it looked as if India were struggling for boundaries in the middle after the quick loss of wickets but the partnership between Surya and Iyer saw the team through to the end. India have a 1-0 lead in the three-match series!

Alright then, India are just nine runs away from a win now. First Suryakumar Yadav and now Venkatesh Iyer hitting the boundaries here. India are on their way to a series lead here if West Indies don't come with something special.

The runs continue to keep on flowing for India here. West Indies, so far, have not looked to provide any sort of threat to the Indian batters as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have teed off, freeing their arms at every opportunity that has been presented. Already 57 runs have been scored and India need another 101 more off 15 overs. At this pace, this looks like a very easy total at this point of time. 

Rohit Sharma's love affair with the Eden Gardens continues as he seems to be in very good touch. Odean Smith's first over cost him 22 runs and India have a fantastic start here today in this run-chase. West Indies did not seem to have an answer to that onslaught.

West Indies finish with 157/7 largely due to Nicholas Pooran's fifty. Captain Kieron Pollard hit some boundaries at the end but India did well to restrict West Indies to below 160. Ravi Bishnoi had a brilliant debut with figures of 2/17 in four overs. India need 158 to win the first T20I here.
