So as the situation does not look good in Guyana, the match has been abandoned. 

Still some dark clouds around Guyana and the umpires will soon make their decision. Rain continues to pour in the stadium. 

Rains are back and so are the covers. Sadly we will have to wait longer for the game to start. 

Rain stops at Guyana and the players and the groundsmen are at work right now. 

So here's a piece of good news from Guyana. The rains have subsidised and have turned into showers. 

The doors of the heavens have opened again and rains have interrupted the play.

Ravindra Jadeja is here to bowl and the spinner gave away six runs from the over. 50 up for the Windies.

Kuldeep Yadav strikes in the first ball of the over as Gayle attempted to hit it big but missed it and the ball rattled the bails of the leg stump. Gayle BOWLED on 4.

Bhuvi continues. Slips come back into place and a couple of dot balls. Bowls a couple of WIDES. Lewis finally breaks the shackles to hit a SIX to backward square leg. The powerplay concludes with a dot ball. 

So Shami continues and starts off with no run. Slip is out Rohit Sharma shifts to mid-wicket. One run to end the over. 

The play will begin within the next few minutes and the match is reduced to 34 overs per side.

The inspection is underway as the umpires and working hard on the ground for the game to resume soon.

The play could start at 1.00 PM local time as the umpires and ground staff are still working on the ground to make everything is in place. We could lose more overs 

The update from Guyana is that the inspection will happen at 10.15 PM. As of now, the ground staff is working on the ground. 

The umpires have said that the ground staff needs more time and thus we shall lose more overs. 

So as per the latest update, the match has been reduced to 40 overs per side.
