After losing the Test Series brutally against England by 1-4, team India made an amazing comeback and defeated West Indies by an inning and 272 runs. The first Test match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association in Rajkot witnessed many records being broken. First, Mumbai lad Prithvi Shaw broke records for scoring a ton on his debut, then came Virat Kohli who brought his 24th 100 surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Local boy Ravindra Jadeja also scored his maiden ton. With this, the Saurashtra Cricket Association, Rajkot witnessed the biggest inning victory registered by Virat Kohli and company. The last time India registered an emphatic victory was in June this year against Afghanistan. India defeated Afghanistan by an inning and 262 runs in Bengaluru. India’s third-biggest victory came in 2007 when India defeated Bangladesh by an inning and 239 runs in Dhaka. It was in 2017 that India defeated Sri Lanka in Nagpur by an inning and 239 runs. Lastly, in 1998 India defeated Australia in Kolkata by an inning and 219 runs. Talking about the match, Prithvi Shaw was made the Man of the Match for his blistering knock of 134 runs from 154 balls. After the match, Shaw said, “It was a great win for the team, more happy for the team. Can't imagine my debut like this. Whenever you play international cricket, there's always a challenge. Was looking to play my natural game, like I do in first-class.”
