India’s chase got off to a shaky start as Rohit Sharma was dismissed on an individual score of eight. Virat Kohli then joined forces with KL Rahul and the duo added valuable 100-run stand for the second wicket. Rahul (62) in the process scored his half-century. He was then dismissed in the 14th over and then Kohli took full control of the game.
Despite starting slow, the Indian skipper picked up later and made sure India finish as the winning side. The right-hander slammed six fours and six sixes during his stay in the middle. # Yuzvendra Chahal is now the joint-highest wicket-taker in T20Is for India. Both Chahal and Ravi Ashwin have taken 52 wickets.
# 94 unbeaten is now Virat Kohli’s highest score in T20Is, his previous best was 90 vs Australia in Adelaide in 2016.
# This was India’s seventh consecutive win against Windies in T20Is.

Earlier, West Indies posted 207 for five after Shimron Hetmyer scored 56 off 41 balls. Apart from him, opener Evin Lewis scored 40 off 17 balls. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets. With this win, India takes 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second T20I will now be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, December 08.
