India vs Sri Lanka Highlights 1st T20I 2022: IND Beats SL by 62 Runs, Go One Up in the Series

India won by 62 runs! That's the end of the match. A comprehensive performance by India. Ishan Kishan starred with the bat scoring 89 off 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 28-ball 57 as well. In bowling, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer chipped in with two wickets each.

Three more overs to go now and Sri Lanka need 96 more runs to win. The game is well and truly out of their hands now. India all set to go one up in the series.

Sri Lanka have now lost half the side as things get uglier for them. In six overs, Sri Lanka need 124 more runs to win. That is around 20 runs per over.

Having being given a reprieve when Venkatesh Iyer dropped his catch, Mishara went for the slog and gave a straight catch to skipper Rohit Sharma. India have scored a mammoth 199 here, a total that they would be more than happy with. First, it was Ishan Kishan who took Sri Lanka's bowling apart with skipper Rohit Sharma. Shreyas Iyer took over from them and scored a brilliant fifty in no time, helping India finish strongly here. Sri Lanka have to score 200 to win here and take the series lead, something, which looks slightly unlikely at the moment. Especially with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja back in India's bowling attack. 

FIFTY! Shreyas Iyer has come out and scored a fifty in no time! The right-hander seems to have made most of the opportunity to bat at number three and he has taken the attack to Sri Lanka, taking over from Ishan Kishan. 

OUT! Ishan Kishan, after a good knock has to depart here and Sri Lanka can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The youngster has absolutely taken the attack to the opposition here and has seemed to regain his form after a quiet series against West Indies. He departs while trying to play a big shot. Ishan Kishan looks to be in some form here and India are going pretty well here. The young left-hander seemed to bring India back on track after a period where runs came slowly. At the moment, he is looking unbeatable, playing some innovative and classy shots to keep India well on top after Rohit Sharma's dismissal.

FIFTY! Ishan Kishan hits a fifty! After a relatively quiet series against West Indies, the young batter has regained his old form to get to a blazing half-century here in Lucknow. His innings is what has put India on top at the moment. Not to forget skipper Rohit Sharma, who has done well at the other end, becoming the highest run-scorer in T20Is. India in complete control here.

Now captain Rohit Sharma has decided to hit the big ones and that intent was clearly seen when the right-hander pulled off a slog sweep off Jeffrey Vandersay for a six. India are going great at the moment and it seems that a very good total is on the cards. 

The Ishan Kishan-Rohit Sharma partnership has been fabulous for India in this game so far. Kishan especially has been the more aggressive of the two and he would aim to carry on in the same way as he done so far today. India so far, are ahead of their opponents in this match. 

Ishan Kishan seems to be coming into his own here. A pull shot for a six and a four to end the over meant India are scoring at 10 runs per over. What a start this is! Skipper Rohit Sharma, who has been relatively quiet so far, would be happy with Kishan's approach.

Ishan Kishan has broken loose and he is looking good here. After a slow start, he has released the pressure and hit three fours in the over bowled by Chamika Karunaratne. All of a sudden, India look to have a great start.

Rohit Sharma, whose record against Dusmantha Chameera is not good, played a pretty cautious first over alongside Ishan Kishan. India get five runs off it as both batters seem to not take much risk.
