Virat Kohli and KL Rahul resume proceedings for India after tea and it will be interesting to see how this partnership goes. Kohli and Rahul both were in good form in Centurion and they will hope to stretch India' lead as much as possible. South Africa on the other hand, would want to break this partnership as soon as possible.
What a session it has been so far! India came out all guns blazing and Rohit Sharma looked very good after Yashasvi Jaiswal's early dismissal. When the runs flowed for India, Nandre Burger struck thrice to remove Rohit, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer to leave India at 111/4 at tea. We are in for a thrilling final session of play here at Cape Town.

India are all set to take on South Africa in the 2nd Test match of the two-match series at Newlands, Cape Town starting from Wednesday, January 3. India are currently trailing 1-0 in the series after suffering a massive defeat by an innings and 32 runs in the 1st Test at Centurion. India put up a poor show with both bat and ball as the top order collapsed in both innings putting the middle order in pressure and leaving them some hard work to do. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in both innings attempted to save India from embarrassment but it was hardly enough. Lack of discipline in the bowling didn't help either as except Jasprit Bumrah none of the fast bowlers could make an impact. Now India face a steep task to level the series coming from behind. Virat Kohli Trains Against Left-Arm Fast Bowling, Shreyas Iyer Faces Barrage of Short Balls in Nets Ahead of IND vs SA 3rd Test 2023–24.
India's opening stand was not good enough in both the innings as Rohit Sharma fell cheaply and Yashasvi Jaiswal's lack of experience reflected in his judgement. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer were put in constant pressure by the South African bowlers and only experienced Virat Kohli and KL Rahul could make an impact. India went with a combination of six batters, two all rounders and three specialist bowlers which proved to be counterproductive as well as the conditions neutralised Ravichandran Ashwin's batting and bowling both. Entering the last and final Test match, the goal for India would be to exploit the conditions well.David Bedingham’s Story: From Coming Back After a Car Accident to 'Copying' Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's Techniques, Making Test Debut.
Meanwhile, South Africa had to put in minimal efforts for victory in the first Test. Dean Elgar played a huge knock and received good support from Marco Jansen and David Bedingham. Despite Temba Bavuma not being able to bat or lead, Proteas stayed calm and collected and riding on the top performances of their bowlers, they cruied through to victory. Lungi Ngidi is likely to be available after missing the first Test and he will add value to the already threatening bowling lineup of Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen. Dean Elgar will lead in his final Test of career and he will eye to make it memorable finishing with a big victory and series win.
