India vs South Africa, 3rd ODI 2022 Highlights: SA Beat IND; Win Series 3-0
India were completely outplayed in the first and second ODIs in Paarl and they have already lost the series. But they would have to play for pride and avoid a whitewash against South Africa, who have clearly been the better side in all departments of the game in the ODI series so far.
South Africa Win Series 3-0! The Proteas get over the line in a close encounter as they edge India by 4 runs in the 3rd ODI to complete a sensational clean sweep. Quinton de Kock shone with a century while Deepak Chahar's gutsy fifty went in vain.
The equation us 41 runs off 36 deliveries! South Africa are in a dominant position heading into the final few overs but Deepak Chahar has kept India in the game with his power-hitting.
Wicket! Sisanda Magala strikes for South Africa as he accounts for Shreyas Iyer. The hosts continue to pick wickets as soon as Indian begin to gather momentum in the game. Shreyas Iyer c Phehlukwayo b Magala 26(34).

After losing KL Rahul early, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have stitched a string partnership together and are looking to take India forward in the game.
KL Rahul has struck two fours in the very first over to give his side a good start to the chase. The first one was a touch short and wide delivery by Lungi Ngidi which was dispatched to the fence and the second one was flicked for another four. A good start for India and they would hope they carry on in the same manner.
OUT! Prasidh Krishna has two wickets in the last over. First it was David Miller who departed while trying to clear the fence. Kohli took another good catch to complete the dismissal. He then got the wicket of Sisanda Magala on the penultimate delivery of the innings with KL Rahul being the catcher. India have done really well to restrict South Africa to under 300 here. At one point, it looked as if a total of more than 310 would be on the cards for South Africa with Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen going great guns but India stifled the flow of runs with a flurry of wickets to ensure that they need 288 runs to win the final match of the series and avoid a whitewash. Will India be able to get it? Stay tuned to get updates about India's chase.
OUT! Keshav Maharaj departs while trying to hit the big one. Jasprit Bumrah bowls a slower one and Maharaj miscues it. Virat Kohli completes the dismissal with a good catch near the boundary. It was a well-judged catch as he did not lose sight of the boundary. Keshav Maharaj c Kohli b Bumrah 6(5)
OUT! Prasidh Krishna has struck and Dwaine Pretorius, after a 20-run knock has departed while trying to hit a big shot. Krishna bowls a slower ball and Pretorius miscues it with Suryakumar Yadav taking a good catch. India are chipping away at the wickets and David Miller now is South Africa's hope for a total beyond 300. Dwaine Pretorius c Suryakumar Yadav b Prasidh 20(25)
The duo of David Miller and Dwaine Pretorius look to help South Africa finish their innings on a high here. India did fight back hard with the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Andile Phehlukwayo but Miller and Pretorius have added 37 runs so far. They are key to South Africa getting to a strong total.
OUT! South Africa hav lost another and it is due to the brilliance of Shreyas Iyer on the field. After a good catch to dismiss Rassie van der Dussen, Iyer has now produced a sensational bit of fielding to catch Andile Phehlukwayo short of his crease. Rishabh Pant was quick to dislodge the bails as well. India are slowly making their way back into the game with South Africa losing quick wickets. Andile Phehlukwayo run out (Shreyas Iyer/Pant) 4(11)

OUT! Yuzvendra Chahal has struck and dismissed the dangerous Rassie van der Dussen. The right-hander, who got to his fifty a while ago, went for a slog sweep hits it from the toe end of the bat and Shreyas Iyer took an excellent catch to complete the dismissal. India have sent back both set batters now and can put pressure on South Africa once again. Rassievan der Dussen c Shreyas Iyer b Chahal 52(59)
OUT! India finally have broke the 144-run stand between Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen with the former falling to a Jasprit Bumrah short ball. The left-hander, who has been batting for a long time now, pulled one but found Shikhar Dhawan in front of the boundary. A good innings have come to an end and the Indian players are congratulating him for this effort. Quinton de Kock c Dhawan b Bumrah 124(130)
FIFTY! After Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen is the one to raise his bat, albeit for a fifty! The right-hander has absorbed all the pressure with de Kock after Aiden Markram's wicket and has played brilliantly to get to his half-century. He would now aim to make it big like his partner at the other end. South Africa are clearly on top here.
Hundred! Quinton de Kock has made his way to a deserving hundred. What a knock it has been! The left-hander has scored his sixth ODI hundred against India, his 17th overall and has looked in fine touch in this game. The southpaw got to his hundred off 108 balls with nine fours and two sixes.
Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen has brought the Proteas innings back on track with a 64-run partnership. The duo have attacked the Indian bowlers and have looked very good so far. South Africa would bank on them to take the side to a good total here. If things continue in the same manner, then India would be in trouble.
It has come down to the last game of the tour and India would be hoping to end this sojourn of South Africa on a winning note when they face the hosts in the third and final ODI of the three-match series in Cape Town on Sunday, January 23. Contrary to what many would have predicted, South Africa have already won the series, with an unassailable 2-0 lead following a win in Paarl in the second ODI. India have done well in patches but South Africa proved to be the better team in all departments of the game and rightfully so, they find themselves victorious and on the cusp of possibly pulling off a whitewash of India.
The visitors though, have pride to play for. Not only would India seek to avoid the whitewash, but it would be interesting to see whether they choose to give some new faces an opportunity, considering the fact that the series is already lost. KL Rahul would hope to secure his first victory as captain of the side while the team would be eager to better their performances in Paarl and put up a more competitive display with both bat and ball.
It would surely not be easy for India as they would be up against a very confident South Africa outfit. But it sure is not impossible and the Men in Blue can believe in themselves to come up with a win by the end of the day.
