South batted with some resistance in the second session of Day four but it seems like they have only to delay their defeat. India are just three wickets away from winning the Test match and also clinching the series 2-0. At Tea on Day 4, South Africa were reeling at 172/7 with Vernon Philander (29) and Keshav Maharaj (17) on the crease. The tail-enders guided the visitors to 275 in the first innings and the onus of narrowing down the margin of defeat is again on them. The Pune pitch is not favouring the batsmen anymore and the spinners are headed high. In the first innings, Virat Kohli scored a fantastic double hundred (254) as India mustered 601 runs in the first innings. Apart from the skipper, Mayank Agarwal (108) and Ravindra Jadeja (91) made significant contributions. In reply, Proteas displayed a dismal show with the bat and manage only 275 in their first innings. India stepped into the match with 1-0 lead which means a victory in the ongoing clash will seal the three-match for the hosts. With this win, the Virat Kohli led side will become the first team to clinch 11 consecutive Test series at home.
