3 Tests- South Africa Won 2–1

The three-match Test series was an absolute thriller as all the matches went down the wire. The series was dominated by the pacers as only one century was registered in the series, which was hit by Virat Kohli. South Africa won the first two matches of the series despite India’s valiant effort. However, India won the last Test and prevented a whitewash. South Africa’s pacer Vernon Philander took 15 wickets in the series and was adjudged as the ‘Man of the Series’.

6 ODIs- India Won 5-1

After getting defeated in Tests, India redeemed themselves in the limited-overs game. India completely outplayed the Proteas in their home soil and bagged the series 5-1. India’s Skipper Virat Kohli was the standout performer of the series as he scored 559 runs in the series, which included three centuries. Apart from Kohli, the spin duo of Yuzuvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav also tormented the Proteas batsman throughout the series and played vital role in the series victory.

3 T20Is- India Won 2-1

The three-match T20I series was the last leg of the tour, which also proved to be a thriller. India started the T20I series by winning the first game. The Men in Blue were also all set to clinch the second clash but Heinrich Klaasen played a blinder and the hosts won the match. All came down to the third match which was won by India and they eventually lifted the series 2-1.

South Africa’s struggle started with the retirement of AB de Villiers and worsened when Hashim Amla bid adieu to the game. So, Cricket South Africa will bank on the youngsters to take responsibility and make the Proteas Team a formidable force once again. On the other side, India will look to test their bench strength in order to extend their supremacy in World Cricket.
