India dished out a superb performance to beat Pakistan by eight wickets in their second Asia Cup 2018 match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a paltry target of 163 runs, India crossed the line in the 29th over. After bundling out Pakistan for a cheap total, India got off to flying start thanks to 86-run stand for the opening wicket between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit started off cautiously but then upped his ante after spending some time in the middle.

Rohit and Dhawan then made Pakistan’s bowling line look ordinary and scored runs with ease. In the process, Rohit completed his half-century off just 36 balls, his personal fastest in ODIs. After Rohit, India lost Dhawan (46) in the 17th over but with a small target to chase the Men in Blue never looked in trouble. Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik then added unbeaten 60 runs for the third wicket to take India home. Rayudu and Karthik both finished unbeaten on 31.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. The Green Shirts lost two wickets inside first five overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar accounted for both the openers and helped India get off to a perfect start with the ball. After losing two early wickets, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik batted with intent to bail Pakistan out of the trouble. The duo shared 82 runs for the third wicket and helped stabilised Pakistan innings.

Kuldeep Yadav then bowled Azam (47) and that opened the gates once again for India. The defending champions then kept picking wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowled out Pakistan for just 162 runs.
