It was a day of records for the Indians as they won comprehensively against Pakistan at the Asia Cup 2018 at the Dubai International Stadium. Rohit Sharma and company beat Pakistan by 9 wickets and thus secured a place in the finals of the 2018 Asia Cup. Along with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni created a record. The moment Dhoni took on the field, he went on to play the 505th game. Rahul Dravid has so far played 504 matches India. Sachin Tendulkar, however, continues to lead the list with the record of 664 matches. This means Dhoni is the most experienced player in the Asia Cup squad and needless to say that he chips in with suggestions when needed.
Like yesterday itself, he got lauded for asking the skipper Rohit Sharma to take DRS in the 8th over. Imam-ul-Haq came forward and the ball hit the pad before Imam could make contact with the bat. After the team’s appeal, the batsman was given not out. However, Rohit still asked for the review after Dhoni insisted to do so. The ball showed to be hitting the top of middle and leg and it was yet another great "Dhoni" review.
Shikhar Dhawan bagged the man of the man trophy for his blistering knock of 114 runs off 100 balls. His innings came from 16 fours and a couple of sixes. Rohit Sharma lauded the performance of the Indian team and said that the boys showed great character. “We spoke about leaving our past performances in the past and doing the job again today and they did it. Bumrah has matured as a bowler now, has played a great amount of cricket and he understands his bowling. it's very important for any player,” said Rohit.
