India vs New Zealand Highlights 2nd Test 2021 Day 3: Ravichandran Ashwin Shines As Kiwis Falter in 540-Run Chase Despite Daryl Mitchell Fifty

Alright then! India have once again kept themselves in the drivers' seat with a brilliant performance on Day 3. They have managed to snare five New Zealand wickets with Ravichandran Ashwin capturing four to reach 50 Test scalps in 2021. India still have 400 runs to defend and with New Zealand having lost half their side, the hosts would fancy a win at the Wankhede. An eventful fourth day awaits us! 

OUT! The Indians just can't stop striking and Tom Blundell is the latest one to bite the dust. He was involved in a terrible mix-up with Henry Nicholls at the other end. There was never a run there and while Nicholls stayed put, Blundell charged down to the other end. KS Bharat pulled off a spectacular throw and Wriddhiman Saha whipped the bails off quickly!

OUT! India have another one and it is the dangerous Daryl Mitchell, who departs this time. The right-hander already got a fifty and he ended up playing one shot too many. He plays a big shot and Jayant Yadav takes a simple catch. 

FIFTY! Daryl Mitchell has raised hopes of a New Zealand fightback with a fighting and attacking fifty. The right-hander has scored 51 fine runs off 79 balls with seven fours and one six to his name. 

New Zealand have managed to keep the scoreboard ticking at a decent rate despite losing three wickets with less than 100 runs on the board. Indians would want another, preferably Daryl Mitchell who has looked to take the attack back to the hosts with a 57-ball 32. 

OUT! Another one bites the dust and it is the experienced Ross Taylor, who has to depart. Ashwin is the man to strike again! Taylor tries to relieve the pressure with a slog sweep but finds Pujara, who runs back to his right from short leg. New Zealand are falling apart!

OUT! Ashwin delivers once again! This time, it's Will Young who has to depart. A turning ball caught the inside edge off Young's bat and Kohli went for a review after Suryakumar Yadav took a good catch. The umpire was not interested at first but another one down for New Zealand. India, eight wickets away now from a win!

New Zealand did lose Tom Latham early but they are putting up a fight against all odds here. The partnership of Daryl Mitchell and Will Young would be a significant one for the visitors today. 

 Ravi Ashwin has struck for the team in the second over itself. Pitches in line and the impact are also in line with the stumps being clipped. Tom Latham LBW on 6 runs. Quite a great start to the India team. Champion bowler he is! 

So the Kiwis are here to bat and as a response to India's target of 540 runs, Tom Latham and Will Young are will be looking to give a flying start to the team. 

With that wicket of Jayant Yadav, Virat Kohli has now declared the innings and has posted a mammoth of 540 runs as the target for the team. 

Rachin Ravindra got his third wicket and this time it was Wriddiman Saha who made his way to the pavilion. Saha comes down the track and Jamieson took a stunning catch to dismiss the Indian wicket-keeper. Meanwhile, the Indian batsmen are blazing guns for the side as they are pacing up the innings with four and sixes. 

So the Kiwi bowlers are back into action after they scalped the wickets of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer in quick succession, The team is desperately looking out for wickets. India lead by 493 runs

Shubman Gill has missed his half-century as he has been dismissed by Rachin Ravindra. Jabs it across and Tom Latham in the circle does not make any mistake to grab that one. Shubman Gill is OUT on 47. 

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are going strong for the Indian team. Gill is now nearing 50 runs and for now, the Kiwis are toiling hard to get a wicket here. They desperately need a wicket for now. 

The first session was dominated by the Indians as they are now leading by 409 runs. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are batting for the side. 

And it's lunch and the home team continues to dominate their opponent. As of now, Virat Kohli and men lead by 405 runs. 

 Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are aiming to stabilise the team after the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal. India is currently leading by 396 runs. 

Just as we thought that Cheteshwar Pujara was scoring a half-century, we had Ajaz Patel who walked away with a wicket. Gets edged and taken by the man in the slips. Pujara OUT on 47 runs. 

11th wicket for Ajaz Patel as he gets rid of Mayank Agarwal. The batsman skied it up in an attempt to deposit it into the crowd but mistimes it and gets caught in deep. Agarwal OUT on 62 runs.
