IND 147/0 in 20.1 Overs | India vs Nepal Highlights of Asia Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill Star As India Secure Dominating Ten-Wicket Victory

At halfway stage, it really felt like Nepal have done enough to compete, but the pitch turned out to be really good for batting and Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have capitalized on it scoring freely in a rain-curtailed game and helped India cruise to victory. With it India have also secured qualification for the Super Four stage. 

After Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill also completed his half-century. Came at a good time for him. After a lean patch, he needed some runs to get going and back in form. 

It has been a one sides chase till now. Rohit Sharma has come out with taking on the Nepal bowlers and assaulted opposition's best bowler Sandeep Lamichhane. Shubman Gill has provided him solid support. India are cruising till now and the chase should be over in no time. 

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma has looked unfazed negotiating the Nepal attack since resumption. They have kept things simple as well as collected crucial boundaries occasionally. Fifty partnership up for the openers. 

The umpires, after some thorough inspection, finally decided on a revised start time. We are all set to have a 23 over game and the play is going to start on 10:15 PM IST.  The information has been communicated to the captains and the DLS revised target is 145. 

The rain has seemingly stopped and the umpires are out in the middle for an inspection. We will have a revised start time soon if the rain doesn't interfere anymore. 

Some covers coming off but it is still raining pretty heavily. The loss of overs has started and India are all set to get revised targets if the play resumes. DLS Targets: 220 in 45 overs | 207 in 40 overs | 192 in 35 overs | 174 in 30 overs | 130 in 20 overs.

Some exciting action in the first two overs of Indian batting. Rohit Sharma looked tentative against Karan KC in the first over. The second over from Sompal Kami against Shubman Gill saw both throwing punched. Rain intervened and umpires called the players back. Covers are in place now. 

Not the best of finishes for Nepal as they fail to get a strong finish or bat the complete 50 overs but they have shown some tremendous efforts to get well over 200 against the Indian bowling attack. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh were fantastic at the top and they were supported well by cameos from Gulshan Jha, Dipendra Singh and Sompal Kami. They will fancy to have their chances. 

Sompal Kami was taking on the Indian bowlers but Mohammed Shami finally got the better of him with extra bounce in one of his deliveries. He was soon followed by Sandeep Lamichhane, who was run out. 

Despite losing a well set Dipendra Singh, Nepal has not toned down their fight and now Sompal Kami hits a massive six to Hardik Pandya as they enter the final overs of the innings. Nepal will target to go as near as 250 as possible. 

The rain seems to have stopped and the covers are coming off as well. Umpires will have an inspection on 6:30 Pm local time and then might give a possible restart time if there is no rain. 

The umpires finally had to stop the play and call the covers on. There has been twice when the covers just came on and off while the players waited. But now huge rain clouds hover around and umpires had to stop play. Hopefully fans will see action resume soon. 

Gulshan Jah was trapped by a fullish ball from Mohammed Siraj and India now have entered the lower order of the Nepal batting. They still continue the fight and 150 comes up from them. With overs remaining the target for them should be crossing the 200 run mark.

Nepal Opening batter Aasif Sheikh has notched up a well-compiled fifty. He has taken 88 balls to reach the landmark. Though wickets were tumbling at one end, Aasif kept his cool and achieved the feat. He needs to carry on the same fashion.

Out ! Ravindra Jadeja bags another and Nepal Skipper Rohit Paudel has to depart. Paudel tries to defend Jadeja's faltter delivery but the ball spins sharply and takes the outside edge. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma takes a sharp catch at slip. Rohit Paudel c Rohit Sharma b Ravindra Jadeja 5(8)

Out ! Ravindra Jadeja has castled Bhim Sharki and provided India the second breakthrough. Sharki looks to cut the flatter delivery but the ball takes the under-edge and hits the stumps. Bhim Sharki b Ravindra Jadeja 7(17) 

India have put on the brakes after getting rid of Kushal Bhurtel. The runs have dried up since the first wicket. The Indian bowlers would look to keep up the good work and maintain the pressure.
