In their first match of the Asia Cup 2018, Team India defeated Hong Kong by 26 runs. Not only did the Indians win the match, but their gesture won hearts too. After winning the match against Hong Kong, Rohit Sharma and company visited the dressing room of the opponents and congratulated the team for their splendid performance. It was Hong Kong’s Anshuman Rath and Nizakat Khan who scored the73 and 92 runs respectively. India beat Hong Kong by 26 runs.
The team was seen clicking selfies with the Indian players and chatted their way to glory. Overall the atmosphere of the dressing room was very cheerful. At one point in time, it looked like Hong Kong would walk away with the match as Anshuman Rath and Nizakath Khan were blazing guns. But it was Kuldeep Yadav who first got the wicket of Rath. The team then collapsed like a pack of card. Khaleel Ahmed snapped a couple of wickets. After the match, Rohit Sharma said that the team would want to learn from the mistake. “The mistake was that we could've attacked a bit more. It's a mistake, and that's a learning curve. They pulled off the victory, and I have no doubt for the future as well. Didn't doubt ourselves at any stage, but credit to Hong Kong. Great partnership by their openers, and for our bowling curve, it was great to handle those situations. We will be put under pressure at times, and it's important to handle it. The positives were Shikhar's innings,”he said.
