India vs England Highlights 2nd ODI, 2021: ENG Beat IND By Six Wickets

England have produced a masterclass as they defeated India by six wickets to register one of the highest run-chases in ODI cricket in the 2nd One-Day International at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. With this win, the visitors have leveled the series 1-1. 

England are free-falling here. After a sensational partnership, they have lost three wickets for just two runs in nine deliveries as skipper Jos Buttler is the latest man to depart. Prasidh Krishna gets his second wicket of the game. Buttler b Prasidh 0(3).

Century! Jonny Bairstow has continued his good form in the ODI series as after missing out in the opening game, the Englishman has scored a century in the second match. This was Bairstow's 11th hundred in One-Day Internationals. 

Pressure is building in the dup of Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes after a couple of tight overs by the Indian bowlers. Both batsmen have done well to record a 50+ run partnership and will be aiming to continue that.

Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes will be hoping to not replicate the mistakes of the previous game and are taking a more measured approach in the game. Both batsmen are playing well at the moment and will be aiming for a big partnership.

Jason Roy has gone past his half-century and England’s total has also crossed the hundred-run mark. Jonny Bairstow after his slow start has upped the ante and is nearing his half-century as well. Spin, in the form of Kuldeep Yadav, has been introduced into the attack.

England openers have done a fine job thus far. Jonny Bairstow is slowly getting back in his groove as well while Jason Roy is nearing towards his half-century. England now need 273 more runs to win from 38 overs, that’s slightly over seven runs per over.

So India finish with a massive total of 336 on board. After partnership with Virat Kohli, KL Rahul shared a valuable stand with Rishabh Pant as well and in the process completed his century. That’s half-century up for Rishabh Pant. 28-ball fifty for the left-hander, this is his second fifty in ODIs. Eight more overs to go and India are in a good position to finish big.

Last ten overs remaining now and India apparently will be pushing for the acceleration now. KL Rahul is nearing his century so he might go into caution mode but expect Rishabh Pant to up the ante. India will be targeting the 300-run mark from here.
