India vs England Highlights 3rd T20I, 2021: ENG Defeat IND By 8 Wickets

England (158/2) defeated India (156/6) by eight wickets in the 3rd T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 16, 2021 (Tuesday) to take a lead in the series. Jos Buttler was the star of the show for the visitors as his 11th T20I fifty took them over the line.

India have done well to keep themselves into the game but need wickets to put the English batsmen under pressure. Jos Buttler has been the star for the visitors in this game but needs support from the other end.

Stumped! Brilliant bowling by Washington Sundar here as he gets the better of Dawid Malan, who comes down the crease to clear the field but completely misreads the delivery, giving Rishabh Pant an easy job behind the stumps. Malan st Pant b Washington Sundar 18(17).

Fifty! Jos Buttler completes his 11th T20I half-century. The wicket-keeper has taken the game to India right from the start with his explosive batting and has kept England on the front foot in the game. 

End of Power-play! Jos Buttler has been terrific in the opening period of the innings. The English wicket-keeper is scoring at the rate of knots and taking visitors closer to the target. But much cricket is still to be played in the game. 

Caught! Yuzvendra Chahal provides the breakthrough for India in his very first over. Jason Roybtried to reverse sweep the spinner but mis-hits and a catch is taken sharply by Rohit Sharma. Roy c Rohit b Chahal 9(13).

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler have started well for the visitors and will be looking to form a big partnership. Buttler has looked much better of the two and has found his rhythm early. Meanwhile, India will be hoping for some early wickets.

A brilliant knock by Virat Kohli (76*) to guide India to a par score in the game. The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals but a 27th T20I half-century by the captain saw them pose a decent target on the board. Mark Wood was the pick of the England bowlers with the figures of 3/31. India scored 69 runs in the last five overs with Kohli getting the bulk of them. 

Fifty! A captain's knock by the Indian skipper as he brings up his 27th T20I half-century in just 37 deliveries, Kohli has held the Indian innings together and will be looking to guide his side to a huge score. Second consecutive fifty for Virat Kohli in the series.

Caught! Mark Wood strikes yet again for England as the pacer gets rid of Shreyas Ouyer with a short delivery. India are in deep trouble at the moment and need a big partnership entering the death overs. Shreyas Iyer c Malan b Mark Wood 9(9).

Once again India will rely on captain Virat Kphlo to lead them in the batting department. Kohli has been playing well so far and needs to be supported well by Shreyas Iyer if the hosts are to get themselves out of this dire position. 

Run-Out! Rishabh Pant has handed England an olive branch as the batsmen runs himself out in search of a third run. The batsmen failed to communicate well between the wickets which resulted in a terrible mix-up and a loss of a crucial partnership. Pant run out (Buttler/Sam Curran) 25(20).

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are starting to up the run rate and have managed to find the boundary rope in the past few overs. Much will be dependent on these two batsmen of India are to put on a fighting total. The duo have scored 18 runs in the last two overs.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have a massive rebuilding job on their hands after the opening order failed to get among the runs. Bith players have been in terrific form of late. England will be looking to keep the pressure on and dry the flow of runs.

Wicket! England have been sensational with the ball in the powerplay as they have dismissed the dangerous Ishan Kishan. Chris Jordan picks up a wicket in his very first over of the game. Ishan Kishan c Buttler b Jordan 4(9).

Wicket! Mark Wood strikes again for England as he gets rid of the dangerous Rohit Sharma. The Indian batsmen tried to pull the ball but was cramped up due to wood's speed and handed an easy catch to Jofra Archer. Rohit c Jofra Archer b Mark Wood 15(17).

Bowled! KL Rahul's poor run of form continues in the series as the opener is dismissed for a second consecutive duck. Rahul has scored just one run in three games so far.  Rahul b Mark Wood 0(4).

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul start the proceedings for India in the 3rd T20I. Sharma is playing his first game in the limited-overs series while Rahul hasn't been in the best of forms and will be looking for a  big score. meanwhile, England will be hoping for some early wickets.
