After losing a couple of test matches, Virat Kohli’s men went on to win the third contest at Nottingham against England. It was the team’s all-around performance that gave the team a sweet taste of victory. Captain Virat Kohli who scored 200 runs (97 in 1st innings and 103 in second innings) and thus was awarded the Player of the Match. Both Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya got a fifer. Thus India beat England comprehensively by 203 runs and are now 2-1 in the five-match test series. With this victory, Virat Kohli went on to become the second most successful test captain surpassing Sourav Ganguly.

MS Dhoni still leads the list with 27 victories off 60 matches. Whereas, Kohli now has 22 test victories under his belt from 37 test. Sourav Ganguly is on number 3 with 21 wins from 49 Tests, captaining the team between 2000 and 2005. Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 and Kohli was named the captain for the longer format in 2015. With just five wins away, Virat Kohli’s fans are hoping that he would surpass MS Dhoni’s record very soon. Mohammad Azharuddin comes fourth on the list with 14 wins from 47 matches. Little Master Sunil Gavaskar stands on number five with nine wins from 47 matches.

After winning the third test match, Virat Kohli dedicated the victory to Kerala Flood Victims. “First and foremost, we as a team want to dedicate the victory to the flood victims back home in Kerala. People are going through a lot, and this is the least we can do,” he said. India will play their next match on August 30 at Southampton.
