Joe Root led England proved their dominance even at the second test match at the Lord’s. The team thrashed Virat Kohli led side by an innings and 159 runs. Now, Michael Vaughan who had been in the news for making a statement against Adil Rashid’s selection also took a dig the Indians.

Praising the performance of England, the former England cricketer took to Twitter and wrote, “82.2 overs ... 237 Runs ... 20 wkts ... That was a Test that lasted 170.2 overs ... !!!!!! #2-0.”

With the loss, Virat Kohli lost his number one spot at the ICC Test rankings. Kuldeep Yadav, Murali Vijay, Dinesh Karthik also fell several places below. Vijay fell eight places lower and is now on number 33, whereas Karthik is now on number 195. Kuldeep Yadav fell by 13 places to No.70. Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya were the only ones whose rankings witnessed an increase, Hardik Pandya jumped 18 places in the all-rounders’ charts, and is now ranked No.44. Whereas, Ashin rose 10 places above and is now on number 57 on the batting charts. Also, he is currently placed on number 3 of the all-rounder’s charts.

Virat Kohli after the match admitted that he got the combination wrong. “Not proud of the way we've played. First time in the last five Tests that we've been outplayed. We deserved to lose this game, the way we went about things. Can't really think about conditions when you're playing the game. You can't sit and crib about these things. Sometimes the rub of the green won't go your way. Even when the ball's doing a bit, you have to pitch it in the right areas. Their guys were relentless, they made us work for the runs. [Extra seamer] Yeah looking back, I thought we got the combination wrong,” said the skipper.
