India are ranked number one Tests and will look to stamp their authority. England, on the other hand, are ranked fifth and they will be itching to move up the ladder. Meanwhile, the Test series will be a challenging one as on last England tour, India were handed a 3-1 defeat. This time around India have come better prepared and will be looking for a rare series win in the longer format. As two teams prepare for the contests ahead, we take a look at some of the facts:
Ind vs Eng head-to-head in Tests: India and England have faced each other in 117 Tests. England have won 43 Test while India emerged victorious in 25 matches. 49 Tests between these two sides have ended in a draw. And when it comes to head-to-head in Tests in England, there is a clear dominance by the home side. The hosts eventually won the Test by an innings and 579 runs. In 1924, South Africa were bundled out for just 30 runs in their first innings against England. England’s record at home in Tests: At home England have played massive 510 Test matches. And have a win percentage of 41.76%. Out of these matches, England have managed to win 213 Tests, lost 119 and drawn 178 games.
