India’s ongoing tour of England has begun on a positive note. The visitors clinched the historic three-match T20I series 2-1 and now will have their eyes set on the upcoming three-match One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The ODI series starts from July 12, with second and third matches on July 14 and 17 respectively. Following the ODIs the India and England will also lock horns in the five-match Test series. In the ODIs, it will be a contest between the top two ranked sides. While England are at numero uno position, India are placed below them at the second spot. India can topple England at number one position if the visitors manage to whitewash the home side. In case of a 2-1 series win for India, England will continue to be at the prime position. Ind vs Eng head-to-head in ODIs: India and England have met each other 96 times in ODIs. Team India leads the head-to-head record with 52 wins. England have won 39 while these two teams have witnessed two tie matches. In three matches, no result was possible. Highest/lowest total in ODIs in England: Last month England smashed world cup 481 for six against Australia. It apparently is the highest team total in England in ODIs and anywhere. During the 1979 World Cup, Canada were bundled out for just 45 against England. It remains the lowest team total in ODIs in England.

England’s record at home in ODIs: At home England have won 59.64% of their ODI matches. Out of 294 matches, England have won 165, lost 111, tied four and 14 ended with no result possible. In ODIs, India have a win percentage of 52.20% in England, having won 35 out of 71 matches.

Highest individual score in ODIs in England: Sir Viv Richards in 1984 smashed unbeaten 189 and that remains the highest individual score by a batsman in England in ODIs. Best bowling figures in ODIs in England: In 2001, Pakistan fast-bowler Waqar Younis scalped 7/36 against the home side at Leeds and it remains the best bowling figures in ODIs in England. During the 1983 World Cup, West Indies fast-bowler Winston Davis also picked seven wickets against Australia but gave away 51 runs. It was the first instance of a bowler taking seven wickets in an ODI.
