India vs England 2018: Adil Rashid Creates a History at Lord’s for Nothing
Yesterday England thrashed India in the second test match by an inning and 159 at the Lord’s.
Yesterday England thrashed India in the second test match by an inning and 159 at the Lord’s. Performances from Stuart Broad, James Anderson and a few others stood out. However, England’s Adil Rashid held a unique record of his own at the match despite not bowling or batting during the match. He went on to become the 14th man in the history of English cricket to finish a test match without bowling, batting, taking a catch or effecting a run-out.
Adil Rashid’s inclusion in the test side was quite a debated one. Michael Vaughan states that the decision of including Rashid was quite a ridiculous one. “So we have picked someone who cannot be arsed with 4 day cricket for the Test Team ... Forget whether he is good enough or not I find this decision ridiculous ... !!!,” tweeted Vaughan.
However Adil in an interview with BBC was unperturbed by the statement and he said, “When I mentioned at the start of the year I will not be playing red-ball cricket, he (Vaughan) tweeted something then. He was being controversial and saying his stupid things then too. A lot of people have got no interest in what he says. It is about getting people to like what he says. I don't think he has an agenda against me. I played under and with him but sometimes ex-players come out and start talking nonsense about current players,”
“There will be people out there who are not happy. There will be haters, like the pundits who are saying it is a disgrace. That is not my fault," Rashid had said on a concluding note.
