India vs England 1st Test 2021 Day 4 Highlights: India 52/1 at Stumps

India have ended day four of the first Test match at 52/1, chasing a 209-run target set by England. Earlier in the day, Joe Root played a classy 109-run but Jasprit Bumrah starred for India, picking up a five-wicket haul to ensure that the hosts didn't score anything beyond 303. In response, India got off to a steady start with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma stitching a 34-run stand. But Stuart Broad got the breakthrough for England by dismissing the in-form Rahul for 26 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara then joined Sharma at the crease and struck a couple of boundaries as play ended on the fourth day. India still need 157 runs to win and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara have begun rebuilding India's innings after they lost the in-form KL Rahul for 26 runs. England have set India a 209-run total.

India lost the wicket of KL Rahul for 26 runs with Stuart Broad dismissing him in the fifth ball of the 11th over. 

The pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma doesn't look to be any sort of trouble apart from some odd deliveries as they have given India a good start in their pursuit of the 209-run target. 

Openers KL Rahul (17*) and Rohit Sharma (1*) are negotiating the England bowlers well and have gotten India off to a good start, Rahul has looked better among the two batsmen, hitting few boundaries. India need more 190 runs to win.

First over after the tea break and Shardul Thakur has struck for India. He cleans up Jos Buttler, who for some strange reason was looking to leave a straight ball. England six down now, effectively with 142 runs on board.

England have lost half the side now. Daniel Lawrence is the latest to be dismissed as Shardul Thakur traps him in front of the wickets. Lawrence opted for the review but all in vain.

Mohammed Siraj has managed to pick his second wicket. It is Jonny Bairstow who has to go, Ravindra Jadeja takes the catch. England are four down now as they lead by 89 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah has struck once again! This time he gets rid of Dominic Sibley. Rishabh Pant takes another catch, third for him. This partnership was working good for England but Bumrah has struck!

At lunch on day four, England have taken a lead of 24 runs. Joe Root and Dominic Sibley have done well to rebuild after England lost three wickets early.

Joe Root and Dominic Sibley have added 38 runs for the second wicket this far as England trail by 10 runs now. Both the batsmen are looking comfortable now and will be looking to stretch the lead. 

Joe Root has joined Dominic Sibley in the middle as England look to find their way back. The hosts still trail by 29 runs and the current partnership is worth 20 runs. 

Another wicket for India. Jasprit Bumrah strikes as well. England all of a sudden two down now. Zak Crawley gets an outside edge and Rishabh Pant accepted the catch gleefully. India continue to be at the top as England trail by 49 runs.
