The Nidahas Trophy 2018 final between India and Bangladesh had all the ingredients to make it a blockbuster. The momentum kept swinging from one end to another and eventually it was India who emerged as victorious. It was Dinesh Karthik’s 8-ball 29 that proved to be the difference between the two sides. When Karthik came out to bat, India needed 34 off 12 balls and he went all guns blazing against Rubel Hossain. The right-hander smashed Rubel for 22 runs to bring the equation down in India’s favour. With India needing 12 off last over, it eventually went down to five off the last ball as Karthik slammed Soumya Sarkar for a flat six over extra cover to seal the game.

Chasing 167, India lost two quick wickets inside powerplay. However, captain Rohit Sharma kept playing his shots and made batting look easy. Rohit shared valuable 51 for the third wicket with KL Rahul before the latter was caught near the boundary.

After completing his half-century, the Indian captain was dismissed and that helped Bangladesh crawl back in the game. It was Mustafizur Rahman who bowled a sensational 18th over to swing the match in Bangladesh’s favour. The left-armer not only gave just one run but picked a wicket as well.

However, it was Karthik who stole the show with his breathtaking batting and wrapped up the things in style. It was India’s eighth consecutive win over Bangladesh in the game’s shortest format.

Earlier, thanks to Sabbir Rahman’s 77 and Mehidy Hasan’s late onslaught Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 166 on board after being 33/3 at one stage. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick the bowlers as he scalped 3/18 in his quota of four overs.
