India will play Bangladesh in the second match of the tri-nation Twenty20 series, Nidahas Trophy, on March 8, 2018. India, under the leadership of stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, lost the first match of the series to hosts Sri Lanka.

The Indian team will be looking towards to register their first win on the tour. As for Bangladesh, they will be eyeing to begin the tournament on a winning note.

Given the unpredictability of this format, it is anyone’s game until it is over. However, without Shakib Al Hasan, it will be difficult for the Bangladesh team to beat India. Team India has never lost any T20I against Bangladesh, and Rohit Sharma would love to keep this record intact.

For India, the batting came a cropper in the first match against Lankans. Captain Rohit Sharma was out for a duck, whereas the comeback-man Suresh Raina was dismissed for 1 run only. It was only Shikhar Dhawan who was the saving grace, as he hit his career-best 90 runs off 49 balls. Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant seemed uncomfortable at the crease too. The bowling department sans Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah lacked lustre too.

Everybody remembers what happened when the two sides last met in World T20 clash in Bangalore in 2016. India won the match even when Bangladesh needed 2 runs off 3 balls. It was MS Dhoni’s sprint that won India the match. A lot of things have changed since then. Both, Virat Kohli and Dhoni are not playing the series, and the Bangladesh team would be wanting to make most of it.

Bangladesh would be banking heavily on the experience of Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim to beat the Indian team. Mustafizur Rahman’s swing and pace would be testing too, for the second-string Indian side. The Indian team might swap Shardul Thakur with Mohammed Siraj and there are chances that KL Rahul may find a place in playing XI.
