STUMPS! Day Three has completely belonged to rain, and Australia, who first scored 445, and then downed India to 51 for 4. Indian batters showcased no application in the middle. Australian pacers, in particular, Mitchell Starc triggered a collapse getting rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill after which Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins dismissed Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant respectively. 

Only KL Rahul has shown some grit in the middle, scoring 33 out of the 51 runs India have scored. The batters continue to disappoint, falling to similar dismissals, which is even more frustrating. 

Stoppage again. And Day 3 has been frustrating for players, and match officials with rain interrupting play all across the the three sessions. This could surely see the end of the day's play. 

This is the battle to survive the remainder of play on Day 3 for the Indian batters. Both KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma should look to showcase solid defence and not get bogged down and shut the shutter on scoring runs. Australia will push for a wicket, that could see India drown further in the Test. 

News from Brisbane is that play will resume, and India have to come out and bat in dim light, which could mean that Australia will be restricted to bowling spinners or slow bowling.

BCCI Provides Update

So BCCI has tweeted about an update, that get umpires and match officials will have an inspection of The Gabba around 12:20 PM IST. The rain has stopped, however, water puddles have formed around the boundary lines. 

Rain continues to play hide and seek with players, and fans. In what looked like to be the start of the post-tea season, the clouds opened up yet again, which ensured that players went back into the dressing room. 

Rain is back, and KL Rahul makes a disappointed face. This has been the story of India's batting with rain interrupting play after every few overs. India will first need to score 246 runs to avoid follow-on, and then get as close to Australia's first innings total, which looks daunting.

The drizzle is back, and players have to once again go back into the dressing room. This is good for Australian pacer, who will remain fresh with so many break, while for Indian batter this will be tough to turn their mental switch on and off over and over. 

Players are back on the field, and Josh Hazlewood has completed his unfinished over. With KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the middle, India's first target will be to stop the bleeding, and then rebuild lost ground. 

And, what do you know, the rain is back and players have gone back into the dressing room. Australia will be the happier of the two sides, to have batted in sunny conditions on Day 2. This rain break could be a long-one given the gloominess about The Gabba. 

Welcome back for the post-lunch session of Day 3, where Australia are all over India, having claimed three wickets in the first session. The onus is now on KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant to get India out of a deep ditch with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli failing. 

After some rain, the play has been resumed at the Gabba. The rain has now stopped and players are back on the field. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul will be in action for India. Australia looks in control after scalping three early wickets.

India will need to bat out of their skin to make a contest of this Test, and all will rely on the experienced duo of KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. The youngsters just gifted their wickets away to Mitchell Starc, where they could have shown composure but paid the price for over-aggression.

OUT! Finally Akash Deep gets his first wicket of the Test after coming close several times on Day 2. Alex Carey wanted to score as many runs as possible and tried to pull a short ball, which got mistimed and caught by Shubman Gill at deep midwicket. With this Australia's innings has come to a close on 445. Meanwhile as players walk off the field, the rain is back, which could mean a delayed start to India's innings.

After a very short break, players are back on the field, and strangely Australia have opted not to declare. The dark cloud that threatening the proceedings has vanished now. Rohit Sharma has bowled Ravindra Jadeja from one end, which has not yielded any results.
