Day 2 of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test 2024 has been all about hosts Australia, who have are on the cusp of a famous victory, having come into the Test battered and blued. Firstly, Travis Head made merry with the bat, scoring an enterprising 140, which is the fastest in any day-night Test, and then the Australian bowlers made life difficult for Indian batters in the final hour of play. Both Scott Boland and Pat Cummins claimed two wickets apiece to ensure India go-to stumps with half their side back in the pavilion.

That's it, end of play on Day 2, where Australia have managed to take control of the Test, having downed India's five wickets already in the second-innings. India will need to bat out of their skin if they want to make a contest of this encounter.

07 Dec, 16:46 (IST)

OUT!  Pat Cummins gets his counterpart as Rohit Sharma's poor form continues. Rohit was late into the shot and found his off-stump get hit by a splendid ball from Cummins. India are in tatters here. Rohit Sharma b Pat Cummins 6(15)

07 Dec, 16:25 (IST)

OUT! Another Indian batter bites the dust. Shubman Gill, who looked solid, got an unplayable delivery from Mitchell Starc, that rattled the batter's stumps. With the new Pink-Ball and with the wind behind his back, Starc and other Australian bowlers are the most lethal. Shubman Gill b Mitchell Starc 28(30)

07 Dec, 16:09 (IST)

OUT!  Scott Boland gets the big fish. Virat Kohli is dismissed for 11 after adding 24 runs with Shubman Gill. Once again, Kohli went for the forward plunge and ended up giving a simple catch to the wicketkeeper.  Virat Kohli c Carey b Scott Boland 11(21)

07 Dec, 15:58 (IST)

This has been an engaging session of play for both sides, as India despite losing wickets have kept their run-rate on the higher side, while Australian bowlers have ensured that India does not go into stumps with their heads held high. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill will need to survive the last hour of play.

07 Dec, 15:37 (IST)

OUT! Scott Boland cannot do anything wrong in a Pink-Ball Test. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who looked to get his form back, perishes trying to defend the ball, which caught the outside edge. Yashasvi Jaiswal c Carey b Boland 24(31)

07 Dec, 15:16 (IST)

OUT! Pat Cummins gets rid of the hero from Perth Test KL Rahul. The experiment that worked in the first Test failed in the second as Rahul barely managed to put runs on the board in both innings. KL Rahul c Carey b Cummins 7(10)

07 Dec, 14:59 (IST)

The pressure will be on India, to overcome the deficit as soon as possible. Batters like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma will need to join the party if they want to stay alive in the Test. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rahul have opened the innings for India.

07 Dec, 14:47 (IST)

OUT! Mohammed Siraj gets his fourth wicket of the innings, cleaning up Scott Boland. Boland's wickets also closed the Australian innings on 337, giving the hosts a 157-run lead over India. Siraj along with Jasprit Bumrah claimed four wickets a piece. Only two times a side has won a day-night Test after conceding first innings lead, can India be the third? Scott Boland b Mohammed Siraj 0(9)

07 Dec, 14:33 (IST)

OUT! Mohammed Siraj gets his third wicket of the innings as Mitchell Starc falls for 18. A soft dismissal for Starc, who wanted to chip the ball over mid-off. However got no elevation, and ended up giving a catch to Harshit Rana. Mitchell Starc c Harshit Rana b Siraj 18(15)

07 Dec, 14:11 (IST)

OUT!  Jasprit Bumrah gets the better of Australian skipper Pat Cummins. After Cummins found a streaky boundary, Bumrah bowled an inswinging delivery, that rattled Cummins' stumps all over. And Dinner Break is taken on Day 2. Pat Cummins b Jasprit Bumrah 12(22)

07 Dec, 13:53 (IST)

OUT! Mohammed Siraj gets the big fish with a brilliant yorker. After getting tonked for a six on the previous ball, Siraj bowled a perfect ball to rattle Head's stumps after which he and Head were seen having an exchange. Travis Head b Mohammed Siraj 140(141)

07 Dec, 13:26 (IST)

OUT!  Mohammed Siraj finally gets his first wicket after toiling hard for 21 overs. Siraj gets the better of Alex Carey, who added 74 runs with Travis Head, however, Carey only contributed 15. Alex Carey c Pant b Siraj 15(32)

07 Dec, 13:03 (IST)

100! Travis Head has been phenomenal in this Test, where he has ensured that India bowlers surrendered to his tunes. Head has been a perennial problem for India across formats, and once again has managed to shove aside India from the contest.

07 Dec, 12:49 (IST)

Despite the fall of Mitchell Marsh's wicket, the flow of runs have not stopped for Australia, with Travis Head going strong in the middle. Australia have depth in the batting with tailenders, who can bat. A lead of above 100 will be problematic for India.

07 Dec, 12:31 (IST)

OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin gets Mitchell Marsh. Marsh tried to up the ante, but could only manage to hand Rishabh Pant a simple catch behind the stumps. This is Ashwin's first will on the ongoing BGT 2024-25 tour Down Under. Mitchell Marsh c Pant b Ravichandran Ashwin 9(26)

07 Dec, 12:14 (IST)

Back for the post-Tea session, Ravichandran Ashwin will start the proceeding for India, who will be eager to make inroads into the Australian batting unit before their lead stretches past 100. For Australia, in-form batters Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh will look to make sizeable contributions.

India won the toss and opted to bat first considering batting in the twilight session against the pink ball can be difficult. They suffered a blow straight up as last game's centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed in the first ball by Mitchell Starc. Despite Shubman Gill and KL Rahul's fighting knocks, India suffered a collapse and got bowled out for 180. They reached a rather considerable total riding on the quickfire knock from Nitish Kumar Reddy.
