IND Win By 295 Runs | India vs Australia Highlights of 1st Test 2024 Day 4: Visitors Take 1-0 Lead in BGT 2024-25 After Perth Test Victory

India have achieved the unthinkable and took the first Test at Perth against Australia in the ongoing five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah were the game changers, which witnessed performances from other players as well like Harshit Rana, Washington Sunar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The second Test at Adelaide will start on December 6, and will be a day/night encounter, where India will have the services of Rohit Sharma. 

OUT! Harshit Rana gets the final Australian wicket, and with this India have won the Perth Test, and taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Carey's 58-ball stay in the middle came to an end as Rana deceived the batter with a slower ball, that sneaked past the bat and pad, and knocked the stumps over. Alex Carey b Harshit Rana 36(58)

OUT! Sundar gets Nathan Lyon for a two-ball duck and puts India on the cusp of a major victory. Lyon lunged forward but missed the ball completely, and had his stumps knocked over. Nathan Lyon b Washington Sundar 0(2)

OUT! Washington Sundar provides India breakthrough. Mitchell Starc, who defied India in the first innings, fails to deliver in the second. Starc had added 45 runs with Alex Carey, before handing Dhruv Jurel a blinder at short leg. Mitchell Starc c Dhruv Jurel b Washington Sundar 12(35)

After the fall of Mitchell Marsh, Australian batters Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc have resisted India from making India any further inroads. Starc showcased defiance in the first innings as well, staying in the middle for over 100 balls. With tea nearing, India, too, have experimented with their bowlers.  

OUT! Nitish Kumar Reddy gets his maiden Test wicket. Mitchell Marsh gets an inside edge, which sees the ball knock over his stumps. Marsh fell victim to the variable bounce, where attempting a cut shot, the all-rounder nicked the ball onto his stumps.  Mitchell Marsh b Nitish Reddy 47(67)

OUT! Jasprit Bumrah gets his man out. Travis Head, who was nearing a century, got a peach of a delivery from Bumrah, which found the outside edge of the bat and went straight into the wicketkeeper's glove. Travis Head c Pant b Jasprit Bumrah 89(101)

Unlike other days in the Tests, Australian batters have started to play aggressive cricket. Both Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh are looking to charge the Indian bowlers, in particular, Harshit Rana, who has been a bit wayward. Head is also nearing his eighth Test ton. 

Back for the post-lunch session on Day 4, where India will look to wrap up the Test and head into the day/night encounter 1-0 up. Meanwhile, India's Test and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma during the break was seen in the nets practicing against the pink-ball. The second Test at Adelaide starts December 6.  

LUNCH! As players go off the field with Team India in complete control of the Test. Steve Smith and Travis Head did manage to snitch a 62-run stand and showcase some defiance, but Indian bowlers kept on applying pressure. Mohammed Siraj has been the stand-out bowler for India this morning and has not missed his beat once during both his spells. 

OUT! Mohammed Siraj gets the big fish, and Steve Smith's poor form continues. Smith added 62 runs with Travis Head and looked to show some resistance, but Siraj produced an unplayable delivery, that found the outside edge of the Australian legend. Steve Smith c Pant b Mohammed Siraj 17(60)

Steve Smith and Travis Head have managed to weather the storm, and have added 31 runs in 70 balls. Washington Sundar is getting purchase from the wicket, which moving forward will make things difficult for Australian batters. 

India have not put their foot off the pedal and continuously applied pressure on Australian batters. Both Steve Smith and Travis Head have been fidgety in the middle, and are somehow surviving. Washington Sundar is warming up for India and could come to bowl soon. 

OUT! Mohammed Siraj gets Usman Khawaja. Just the start India needed on Day 4, Khawaja got undone by the pitch and gave a catch to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
