India Win by Five Wickets | IND vs AUS Highlights of 1st ODI 2023: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja Shine As Hosts Take 1–0 Lead

India have registered a five-wicket victory against Australia in the 1st ODI of the three-match series. KL Rahul 75*(91) and Ravindra Jadeja 45*(69) stitched a very crucial 108-run partnership for the sixth wicket to lead India to victory. With this win, India are now 1-0 up in this series. 

KL Rahul has brought up his 13th ODI fifty. The Indian batter is playing a very crucial innings here at Wankhede Stadium. He and Ravindra Jadeja have already stitched a half-century partnership. India now need only 33 runs to win the game. However, a wicket or two at this stage will once again bring Australia back into the game. 

Here goes the fifth wicket. Marcus Stoinis has managed to break the crucial partnership as he got the better of Hardik Pandya. The Indian captain took on Stoins' bouncer but failed to get enough behind the shot. It was an easy catch for Cameron Green at the deep backward square leg. 

India have now lost their fourth wicket. Shubman Gill has been caught out at the backward point by Marnus Labuschagne. Just when India were building a partnership, Mitchell Starc gave Australia another breakthrough. Captain Hardik Pandya has now joined KL Rahul in the middle. 

With two back-to-back wickets in a single over, Mitchell Starc has brought Australia right back into it. At first, Starc dismissed Virat Kohli with an inswinger. The pacer then got rid of Suryakumar Yadav in the following delivery, giving Australia a brilliant start. 

Marcus Stoinis has managed to give an early breakthrough to Australia. Ishan Kishan has been given out LBW. This is a good start from Australia, defending a below-par total. 

Welcome back to our live coverage of India vs Australia 1st ODI 2023. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan are opening the innings for the Indian team. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc has opened the bowling for the visitors. It has been a cautious start for India with only 2 runs from the 1st over.

Australia have been bowled out for 188 in just 35.4 overs. Mohammad Siraj takes the final wicket, his third. Shami picks three wickets as well. Couple of wickets for Ravindra Jadeja and a wicket each for Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya. At one stage, Australia were looking set for a big total but have been bundled out for under 200.

Wickets have failed in quick succession here! Australia suddenly are nine down now. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj have chipped in with wickets. Hardik Pandya has been exceptional with the changes and it was worked for him.

Australia have now lost six wickets. India keep picking wickets at regular intervals. Josh Inglis and Cameroon Green fall to Mohammad Shami, both bowled! These quick strikes have pegged back Australia.

Halfway through and Australia are four down now. India have used six bowlers thus far. Meanwhile, Cameron Green and Josh Inglis are in the middle for Australia.

Hardik Pandya gets his opposite number. Steve Smith is caught behind. He was looking to slash hard at the ball and all he got was an edge. KL Rahul takes the catch behind the wickets.

10 overs gone and Australia have made a solid comeback after losing opening batsman Travis Head early on. Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh have added 54 runs for the second wicket thus far and are going strong.

Mohammad Siraj strikes early for India. In second over of their innings, Australia have lost a wicket. Travis Head has to go, he gets an inside edge and the ball hits the middle-stump.
