Australia Win by 209 Runs | IND vs AUS Highlights of ICC WTC 2023 Final: India 234 All Out, Pat Cummins and Co Bag World Test Championship Title

India finished proceedings on Day 4 needing 280 runs to win with seven wickets in hand. Having already dismissed the top three batters of India's XI, Australia would fancy themselves to run through the batting order and win this contest. All three results are still possible as play starts on Day 5.

Australia registered a convincing 209-run victory in the World Test Championship 2023 final. The Pat Cummins-led side were dominant for most of the match and deserved winners in the end. For India, though, it was their batting which proved to be the thorn in their stride, much like how it happened two years ago at the Rose Bowl vs New Zealand. The only positive for India was Ajinkya Rahane's return, with the veteran showing why he belongs to the big stage. The bowlers were also better in the third innings of the match but conceding such a big lead in the first innings was a setback which the Indian team could not get past. Here's how Indian cricket fans reacted to this defeat.

And we have our second World Test Championship winners--Australia. Pat Cummins and his team have been dominant right from the time they were put to bat on Day 1 and have registered an emphatic 209-run victory. Chasing 444 to win, India had their hopes pinned on Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane Scott Boland started wonderfully and took two wickets in one over-that of Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. The remainder of the batting could take India to just 234. A second WTC final and a second defeat.

OUT! One wicket now is all Australia need to win the WTC 2023 final. KS Bharat attempts to play an aggressive shot off Nathan Lyon's bowling but could only hit it high in the air for the Aussie veteran spinner to complete a simple catch. KS Bharat c and b Nathan Lyon 23(41)

OUT! Australia are in a hurry to finish things off with Mitchell Starc dismissing Umesh Yadav with a good bouncer. Alex Carey, as he has been all match, produces a fine effort to complete the catch. Umesh Yadav c Alex Carey b Mitchell Starc 1(12)

OUT! Nathan Lyon strikes and this time, it is Shardul Thakur who has departed. The all-rounder who hit a half-century in the 1st innings, was trapped right in front of the stumps by Nathan Lyon. Joy for Australia, more and more agony for India. Shardul Thakur lbw b Nathan Lyon 0(5)

OUT! Another big blow for India and it is Ajinkya Rahane who has to depart now. He looked so settled on this track amidst the wickets falling at the other end but now he has departed while trying to play a drive. He ended up edging the ball towards the keeper. Ajinkya Rahane c Alex Carey b Steve Starc 46(108)

OUT! Another one bites the dust and it is Ravindra Jadeja, who has to depart this time! Having just come to the crease, Jadeja edged the ball which nipped away late and Alex Carey ended up with a simple catch. India have lost half their side now in this contest and Australia are clearly ahead! Ravindra Jadeja c Alex Carey b Scott Boland 0(2) Watch Ravindra Jadeja's Dismissal Here.

OUT! Virat Kohli is dismissed! A big big wicket this is for Australia, who would now believe that they have a big foot ahead in this match! Kohli went for a drive but only could edge it to slip with Steve Smith taking a fine catch! Virat Kohli c Steve Smith b Scott Boland 49(78) Watch Virat Kohli's Dismissal Here.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane have resumed proceedings on Day 5 of the India vs Australia WTC 2023 final. Scott Boland started off with the ball for Australia and struck Kohli's pads. But the ball was going way past the leg-stump and they did not opt for a review. The first hour of play, as we all know, is going to be very important for both teams as it will set the tone.

Brace yourselves! A fascinating day of cricket awaits us as India and Australia go up against each other one final time in this World Test Championship final. Day 4 saw Australia declare their batting effort at 270/8, leaving India with a total of 444 to chase down. No other team has chased down such a high score, even in a Test match and should it happen, India would script a record that will be remembered for the ages. But Australia would believe that they have the game in hand, needing seven wickets to lift the coveted Test mace, which this is all about. All three results are still possible in this match.  India vs Australia ICC WTC 2023 Final Day 5 Live Streaming Online on DD Sports, Star Sports & Disney+ Hotstar: Get Free Live Telecast of IND vs AUS Test Match on TV.

India had a decent start with Shubman Gill and captain Rohit Sharma until the former’s dismissal generated a fair amount of controversy. Cameron Green, standing at gully, pulled off a one-handed catch, but TV replays proved to be inconclusive if the ball hit the ground. Australia had two more successes on Day 4 before a partnership between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane staffed a fightback of some sort. The two veterans finished at the day undefeated with a 71-run undefeated stand, with India’s hopes firmly pinned on these two. London Weather Updates Live for IND vs AUS WTC 2023 Final Day 5 at The Oval.

What’s more, is that rain is likely to hamper proceedings on Day 5 at The Oval. The UK met department has predicted rain in the afternoon, with a yellow alert being issued already. Should rain cause play to get washed out on this crucial day, there’s a reserve day in place by the ICC to determine the winner of this contest.
