India had the edge over Australia as the umpires called off the proceedings on Day 1 in the fourth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The visiting team were cruising comfortably on 303/4 with Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari remaining not out on the crease. As for the hosts, they would be content by sending one of the two danger-men, Virat Kohli, back in the pavilion. The Indian batting experienced another horrific start in the series after KL Rahul was dismissed cheaply in the first half hour. However, it was Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal who took the reins of the match in their control.
After the significant partnership, Mayank fell to a trap set by Nathan Lyon and missed out on a well-deserved century. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane joined forces with Pujara but couldn’t contribute significantly and perished without much ado. Hanuma Vihari hit some crisp shots and held one end while Pujara scored his 18th Test ton. The duo added 74 runs in 19 overs, and was unbeaten on 130* and 39* runs respectively.
