India defeated Australia in the second One-Day International (ODI) at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Set 341 runs to win, Australia were bowled out for 304 in 49.1 overs. With this win, India draw level in the three-match series with one game to go. Fast-bowler Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers for India as he scalped three wickets, including two in one over. Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Navdeep Saini picked two wickets each. Australia’s chase began on a shaky note as Shami accounted for opener David Warner. Manish Pandey took a superb catch to send back Warner. After Warner’s dismissal, captain Aaron Finch and Steve Smith then added 62 runs for the second wicket.

It was Jadeja who provided India with a breakthrough and removed Finch. Smith then found an able partner in Marnus Labuschagne and the duo added 96 runs for the third wicket. Jadeja once again struck to peg back the visitors as removed Labuschagne. Earlier, batting first India posted 340 for six in their allotted 50 overs. Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored 96 while Virat Kohli made a significant contribution of 78 runs. KL Rahul provided India with the final impetus as he slammed 80 off just 52 balls. The third ODI will now take place on Sunday, January 19, in Bengaluru.
