On day three of the Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it was Jasprit Bumrah who swept six wickets and left the opponents stunned with his bowling performance. The Indian pacer snapped the wickets of Marcus Harris, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Josh Hazelwood and Tim Paine. With this, the Aussies got bundled out on 151 runs and Bumrah registered his career-best figures of 6/33. He also went on to be the first Asian bowler to have picked to take a 5-fer in Australia, England and South Africa in the same calendar year. Three major overseas tours for India this year witnessed Bumrah’s excellence and with this, the pacer has proven his worth in all the three places. Out of the six wickets snapped by Bumrah, he got a couple of LBWs and a couple of catch outs. With 41 wickets in this calendar year, the Indian pacer surpassed the record of Dileep Doshi's record of 40 wickets in his debut year in Tests in 1979. Doshi’s record was made 39 years ago. During the post-match show, Michael Clarke also went on to praise him and said that Bumrah is his favourite bowler. “He will run through a brick wall for this Indian team, bowl as many overs as Virat Kohli wants. He will bowl from whatever end Virat Kohli wants, he will bowl with the new ball, old ball. He doesn't care, he wants to help India have success,” said Clarke.
