Australia win by 34 runs! There you go, it is all over. Australia take 1-0 lead in this three-match series. Fine effort from the home side. India lost too many wickets upfront. However, despite that Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni kept them in the contention. Fine knock of 133 was not enough for Rohit to help his side win this fixture. Full Scorecard.

That's all from this match, do join us on Tuesday for the second ODI. Till then; bye, bye!

12 Jan, 15:45 (IST)

OUT! Consolation wicket that for Peter Siddle. He gets rid of Kuldeep Yadav as India stare at a defeat. One over remaining and India need 42 runs.  Kuldeep Yadav c Khawaja b Siddle 3(6)

12 Jan, 15:36 (IST)

In total control now Australia. Wicket of Rohit Sharma is what they were after. 62 needed off 18 balls, that's over 20 runs per over from here.

12 Jan, 15:31 (IST)

OUT! BIG wicket this for Australia. Perhaps it seals the game for them. Rohit Sharma it is who has to walk back. Marcus Stoinis with the all-important wicket. Rohit was looking for a big shot on the leg-side, doesn't get hold of it and Glenn Maxwell near deep mid wicket takes the catch. Rohit c Maxwell b Stoinis 133(129)

12 Jan, 15:22 (IST)

OUT! Young Richardson strikes again! Fourth wicket for the pacer. Ravindra Jadeja has to go, he gets a top-edge and the ball goes straight into the hands of Shaun Marsh at deep backward point. Jadeja c Shaun Marsh b J Richardson 8(13)

12 Jan, 15:20 (IST)

Rohit Sharma is going strong and is keeping India in the hunt. 76 needed off 36 balls for India with Rohit batting on 127 off 125 balls.

12 Jan, 15:12 (IST)

We are down to last eight overs now and India needs 96 more runs to win. That's 12 runs per over from here on. It is very much achievable with Rohit Sharma well set on 109.

12 Jan, 15:04 (IST)

That's hundred up for Rohit Sharma. He is playing a sheet anchor role here. Meanwhile, that's his 22nd ODI century. India now requires 106 more runs in last ten overs. Remember, Australia scored 93 in their last ten overs.

12 Jan, 15:02 (IST)

OUT! Jhye Richardson strikes for Australia. Dinesh Karthik comes down the track, looking to play across. Ends up getting an inside edge and is bowled! India five down now. Karthik b J Richardson 12(21)

12 Jan, 14:58 (IST)

Rohit Sharma is just two runs away from his century. He smashed Peter Siddle for three fours in last over as India nears the target. Meanwhile, 113 more needed off 66 balls for India.

12 Jan, 14:45 (IST)

India's required run-rate is now close to ten runs per over. In 14 overs, they need 186 more runs to win. Looks like Behrendorff will finish his quota of ten overs.

12 Jan, 14:39 (IST)

15 overs remaining now and India needs 138 more runs to win the match. All eyes on Rohit Sharma as he holds the key. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik has joined him in the middle.

12 Jan, 14:27 (IST)

OUT! Jason Behrendorff strikes for Australia. BIG wicket this for the home side. The debutant has trapped Dhoni in front of the wickets. Both the sides have lost DRS, so no review available. And Hawk-Eye confirms that the ball was pitching outside the leg-stump. Dhoni lbw b Behrendorff 51(96)

12 Jan, 14:23 (IST)

50 up for MS Dhoni! His 68th in ODIs. India inching closer towards the target.

12 Jan, 14:20 (IST)

Required run-rate for India is over eight runs per over now. But with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni out there India will feel comfortable. Meanwhile, India requires another 155 runs off 114 balls.

12 Jan, 14:12 (IST)

Safe to say Rohit Sharma is in total control now. He is dictating terms to the bowlers. Behrendorff comes back for another spell and is smashed for two fours. Meanwhile, the partnership between Dhoni and Rohit is now worth 120 runs off 152 balls.

12 Jan, 13:59 (IST)

Halfway through and India's total has gone past the 100-run mark. India now needs 188 more runs to win from 24 overs with required run-rate close to eight runs per over.

12 Jan, 13:50 (IST)

That's half-century up for Rohit Sharma. Fifty off 62 balls for the right-hander. That's his 38th half-century in ODIs. India going along nicely now and Australian bowlers are suddenly under some pressure.

12 Jan, 13:47 (IST)

India now needs 203 more runs to win from 27 overs. The required-run-rate is worth 7.52 runs per over. This partnership is nearing the 100-run mark now.

12 Jan, 13:37 (IST)

Peter Siddle is back into the attack. After being hit for a boundary does well to keep it tight, gives away five runs from this over. It interestingly was first four of India's innings.
