In the group stage match number 33 of ICC men's T20 World Cup 2021, Afghanistan after winning the toss invited India to bat first. India made most of it and put a towering total of 210 runs on the board. Rohit Sharma top scored 74 off just 47 balls. Afghanistan, while chasing lost early wickets and were restricted by the Indian bowlers on 144 runs in 20 overs. Karim Janat scored 42 not out, most runs from Afghanistan however not of any use to the team. Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket taker who scalped 3 wickets in four overs for India.
IND vs AFG, 19 SEP 2012, India won by 23 runs
Afghanistan, after winning the toss in the 3rd group match of ICC men's T20 World 2012/13, elected to field first. The Afghani pacer Shapoor Zadran did give an early scare to India by dismissing both openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. However, after Virat Kohli arrived India managed a competing score of 159 runs on the board. Afghanistan started off well while chasing, with Karim Sadiq and Nawroz Mangal playing mini cameos of 26 and 22 respectively. Later, Yuvraj Singh kept providing India with back to back breakthroughs along with other bowlers, dismissing the whole Afghani team on 136 runs.
IND vs AFG, 01 MAY 2010, India won by 7 wickets
In the ICC world T20 2010, India won the toss in the 3rd group match against Afghanistan and elected to field first. Indian bowlers managed to restrict Afghanistan on a paltry score of 115 runs. Ashish Nehra bowled a tremendous spell of 4 for 3 and conceded just 19 runs. Noor Ali Zadran top scored 50 runs in 48 balls. India, in response, sealed the match in 14.5 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Murali Vijay top scored 48 runs in 46 balls.
