As MS Dhoni will take on to the pitch 2018 for playing against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup 2018, he could get one more record on his name. The former Indian captain could reach a milestone to join the league of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly as Dhoni could reach the 10,000 run mark. The wicket-keeper batsman has already reached the 10,000 run mark in ODI but this also includes his innings, Asia XI. MS Dhoni to lead India against Afghanistan for the 200th time.
So far in the Asia Cup tournament, Dhoni has played only a couple of innings- once by scoring a duck against Hong Kong and 33 runs against Bangladesh. In the dead-rubber match against Afghanistan, Dhoni will look to score big runs as the middle-order hasn’t got enough opportunities. The top order has performed quite well in the Asia Cup. Apart from the match with Afghanistan, India will play the finals of Asia’s flagship tournament. If Mahendra Singh Dhoni manages to get 95 runs in the two matches, he will cross the 10,000 run mark.
Recently, he went on to become the second-most capped player for the country by making his 505th appearance. He surpassed Rahul Dravid who has played 504 matches for India. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar remains the most capped player for India making 664 appearances for the country.
Dhoni in the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan, was lauded for asking Rohit Sharma to take the DRS in the 8th over. The appeal made by the Indians was turned by the umpire but it was Dhoni who asked Rohit to take the DRS.
