New Delhi, October 15: Thirty-five participants, including 18 boys and 17 girls, from Commonwealth countries are attending an Under-16 cricket coaching camp being held at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, from October 1-30.
The coaching camp is the first of its kind being conducted, and follows the announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in April 2018 in London.
The event is fully sponsored by the Government of India. The girls and boys teams are trained on various aspects of the game by an experienced panel of coaches.
The various components of the training include Medical Assessment, Musculoskeletal Screenings, Need based strength training, Video analysis, Skill assessments, planning etc.
India is a major player in the 53-member Commonwealth engaging the Small States and Small Island Developing States. This cricket coaching camp is aimed at strengthening bonds among the youth of the Commonwealth countries through the medium of sports, an MEA statement said.
