Team India yesterday produced a clinical performance against Pakistan at the Asia Cup 2018. India’s all-around performance helped them defeat Pakistan by 8 wickets. After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat and put up the score of 162 runs by losing all wickets. India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kedar Jadhav got three wickets each. Whereas Jasprit Bumrah snapped a couple of them and Kuldeep Yadav got one wicket. The Indian batsmen too were quite impressive. India defeats Pakistan by 8 wickets.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan got India to a flying start and made 52 and 46 runs respectively. Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik’s 31 runs led India to victory. The match at Abu Dhabi did have a few trivia and records broken by both teams. Check them out below:
- This was the first time that India played two ODI games in successive days. It was in on 10 & 11th January 2010 that India played back-to-back games between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Mirpur. India won both matches.
- Shoaib Malik becomes the highest run-getter in Asia Cup for Pakistan by getting 618 runs from 13 matches. Earlier, Inzamam- ul-Haq had scored 591 runs in 15 matches of Asia Cup.
- Shoaib Malik was run-out for the 24th time in the ODIs and equated the record of Pakistan legends Javed Miandad and Salim Malik.
- Rohit Sharma scored a half-century in his 100th innings and now holds the highest batting average as an ODI opener in 50 innings. Surpassing South Africa’s Hashim Amla, Rohit holds an average of 54.39. Hashim Amla has 50.10, Sachin Tendulkar has 48.29, Shikhar Dhawan has 46.68, Brian Lara holds 46.08 and T Dilshan has 04.
- The Indian stand-in captain now has 294 international sixes across all formats in 294 games for India. He now has 469 runs against Pakistan in 14 matches.
- This was the 13th encounter between the two sides at the Asia Cup. India now leads by 7-5.
- After 8 consecutive wins, Pakistan finally lost an ODI match.
- Kedar Jadhav produced his best figures with by snapping 3 wickets giving away 23 runs.
