Rajkot, October 6: India took a 1-0 lead over West Indies as they outclassed the visitors by an innings and 272 runs at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium here on Saturday. After posting a massive 649/9 in their first innings, India wrapped up the visitors for 181 and 196 runs in the first and second innings respectively to register their 100th Test win at home.

Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball in the second innings with figures of 5/57. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests in the second innings of West Indies. Earlier, West Indies were all out for 181 in their first innings in the morning session in reply to India's mammoth 649/9 declared and the home side imposed the follow-on. Ravichandran Ashwin had starred for India picking 4/37 in Windies' first innings.

Batting first, India had posted a mammoth total with centuries hit by debutant Prithvi Shaw, skipper Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had also contributed by smashing a quickfire 92 runs. It has been an impressive all-round show by Team India. They will look forward to maintaining the winning momentum when they take on West Indies in the second and final Test in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
