Theunis de Bruyn, who was dropped for the Ranchi Test but came to bat as a concussion substitute for the injured Dean Elgar, was caught by another returning player Wriddhiman Saha – the wicket-keeper left the field on Monday after injuring his left thumb – off Nadeem before the last man Lungi Ngidi hit straight at batting partner Anrich Nortje and was caught by Nadeem in a bizarre fashion, which somewhat summed up South Africa’s series – bizarre. Faf du Plessis’ side failed to breach the 200-run mark in both the innings with replacement batsman De Bruyn registering the highest score for the visitors.
India Register 3-0 Victory
Not only did India strolled to a clean sweep over South Africa in the three-match Test series but also remained the undisputed leaders at the top of the ICC World Test Championship points table (WTC). India, courtesy the series win, now has 240 points from five games which is at least 180 points clear of second-placed New Zealand.
