IND vs ENG Women 2nd ODI 2019: India Beat England by 7 Wickets to Take Unassailable 2-0 Lead

Indian Women’s cricket team dished out an impressive performance in the second One-Day International (ODI) against England at Mumbai. The hosts defeated England by seven wicket after being set a paltry target of 162 runs. India completed the chase in 41.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Opener Smriti Mandhana scored 63 off 74 balls while captain Mithali Raj finished unbeaten on 47 to guide her side to victory. With this win, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The home side won the opening match by 66 runs after budding out England for just 136 runs who were chasing 203 runs.
Meanwhile, coming to the second ODI. England managed to post only 161 runs on board as they were bundled out in 43.3 overs. The pacers pushed England on back-foot early on by picking four wickets quickly. The visitors lost four wickets for just 44 runs on board. Natalie Sciver and Lauren Winfield then tried to bring some stability but Poonam Yadav removed the latter to leave England at 93 for five.

In response, India lost opener Jemimah Rodrigues in the second over with just 1 run on board. Mandhana and Punam Raut the shared 73 runs partnership for the second wicket to take India closer to the target. Raut was dismissed on an individual score of 32 runs. Mandhana, however, continued to post a half-century before her dismissal. Raj and Deepti Sharma then completed the formalities.
The third and inconsequential ODI now takes place at the same venue on February 28. The ODIs are part of the ICC Championship. After that the two teams will face-off in a three-match T20 International series at Guwahati.
