IND vs SL, Asia Cup 2022, Super 4 Highlights: Kusal Mendis, Dilshan Madhushanka Help Sri Lanka Outplay India, Keep One Foot in Tournament Final

What a game it has been and India are at the wrong side of the result yet again. Taking nothing away from Sri Lanka, they have been spectacular today with both bat and ball. Starting off Dilshan Madhushanka steamed in and got rid of the in-form Virat Kohli after Maheesh Theekshana dismissed KL Rahul. Rohit Sharma almost waged a lone battle with a brilliant 72 off 41 and Ravi Ashwin's late charge helped India to 173/8. In response, Sri Lanka started off brilliantly in the first 10 overs with both Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka blazing off to the total. The Indian spinners then brought the side back to the match but poor bowling in the end overs helped Sri Lanka get over the line. India, the defending champions, are almost out of the Asia Cup 2022. 

Sri Lanka beat India by six wickets! What an over by Arshdeep Singh but it was byes that helped Sri Lanka win, with one ball remaining in this innings. This is a massive win for Sri Lanka in this tournament and defending champions India are on the verge of getting knocked out!

This chase is as tense as it could get! Hardik Pandya seemed to have bowled a decent last over but Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka first has a four of an outside edge and then, uses Pandya's pace to guide one for six. Two overs left and Sri Lanka need 21 runs to win. 

Ravi Ashwin is bowled out but not before a dramatic over. Bhanuka Rajapaksa could have been out twice in the over but that was not to be. India have completed the quota of both their spinners now and it is all up to Bhuvi and co if the Men in Blue need to win this. 42 off 24 needed now!

There was a bit of panic in the chase but the right-hander has played a very good innings here, ensuring his side in the match. Sri Lanka still have control on this game and India need another wicket, possibly that of Mendis.

India have played almost all their cards but none of it seems to work at this point of time. Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis have looked extremely confident in this run-chase and if things go on like this. the chase might not even last 20 overs.

Sri Lanka are yet to get off the blocks, barring that two fours by Pathum Nissanka. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh have so far been pretty decent as they aim to let the required run-rate increase. 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is already making life difficult for Sri Lanka's openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. This is a tricky chase and it has been a good first over so far from the veteran bowler. 

What a finish this! At a time when it looked like the total would not get past 165, Ravi Ashwin has delivered in the final two balls, hitting a six off one and two off the other. He was almost out but Wanindu Hasaranga dropped a dolly. Sri Lanka fought back in the end after Rohit Sharma's onslaught gave India a proper comeback in this game after the early wickets of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Dilshan Madhushanka was Sri Lanka's best bowler with 3/24 while skipper Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne got two apiece.
