What a game it has been and India are at the wrong side of the result yet again. Taking nothing away from Sri Lanka, they have been spectacular today with both bat and ball. Rohit Sharma almost waged a lone battle with a brilliant 72 off 41 and Ravi Ashwin's late charge helped India to 173/8. In response, Sri Lanka started off brilliantly in the first 10 overs with both Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka blazing off to the total. The Indian spinners then brought the side back to the match but poor bowling in the end overs helped Sri Lanka get over the line. India, the defending champions, are almost out of the Asia Cup 2022.

Bowling remains an area of concern for the Men in Blue, who have found it hard to restrict their opposition to a low score after the first match against Pakistan. Ravindra Jadeja getting ruled out and Avesh Khan’s subsequent illness were massive jolts to the Indian bowling unit, which looked completely out of colour in the last game. Sri Lanka too have been struggling with their bowling in this tournament. A win for India would definitely calm down some nerves in the dressing room while Sri Lanka if they secure a victory, would edge closer to the Asia Cup 2022 final.
