A day of scintillating cricket comes to an end in Cape Town! India and South Africa are leaving absolutely nothing unturned to make this contest a thriller. The day began with India losing the two veterans--Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession but skipper Virat Kohli hung around with Rishabh Pant, the duo lifting the side out of trouble and into a position of control. But Kohli fell once again while trying to play an off-drive and from thereon, Pant started losing partners at the other end. The left-hander mixed caution and aggression to score a remarkable and historic hundred but the batters at the other end got dismissed to set South Africa a 212-run total. 

India came out all guns blazing after a while, Mohammed Shami got rid of Aiden Markram. Dean Elgar then added a 78-run stand with Keegan Petersen before falling to Jasprit Bumrah while trying to play the flick shot. That signalled the end of play. Oh, not to forget some epic stump mic recordings that were heard from Kohli and his deputy KL Rahul --all of which contributed to the intensity of the game.

Elgar and Petersen are continuing to score easily. India are giving away too many easy singles at the moment. At this rate, India would definitely feel that they have a serious task at hand to restrict South Africa in this run-chase. After losing an out-of-form Aiden Markram, South Africa are looking to rebuild their innings with captain Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen. The duo have had their moments of nervousness but importantly for South Africa, the runs have kept on coming. India would need another wicket, possibly that of Elgar in quick time.

India have set a target of 212 runs for South Africa to chase in the third and final Test of the series. Rishabh Pant scored his fourth Test century, helping India to a competitive score. Marco Jansen was the pick of the Proteas bowlers with four wickets while Rabada and Ngidi took three wickets each.
