IND vs SA 3rd Test 2021–22 Highlights of Day 2: India 57/2, Lead by 70 Runs At Stumps

Stumps, Day 2 | End of day's play, an exciting one. India secure a feeble lead of 13 runs on a difficult wicket after Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul. That's fifty up for India! Some stability after the home side lost both the openers. Meanwhile, the partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli is now worth 26 runs.

Day 2, Tea! Jasprit Bumrah strikes again as he dismisses Marco Jansen and the umpires call for Tea. India will be happy with their display in the session as they took four wickets including the big scalps of Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma.

Wickets! Mohammed Shami puts India in the driving seat as he dismisses Kyle Verreynne and Temba Bavuma in an over.

Another good partnership in the making. Keegan Petersen and Temba Bavuma have thus far added 41 runs for the fifth wicket. The hosts now trail by 70 runs. Meanwhile, South Africa have crossed the 150-run mark as well.

After the fall of  Rassie van de Dussen, Keegan Petersen has reached his half-century mark. This has been a fine knock by the right-hander thus far and holds key for the home side. Another good partnership here and South Africa will be in firm control.

OUT! Just when it was looking that the pair was taking the game away from India, Umesh Yadav has struck again and removed Rassie van der Dussen. The tall right-hander edged one to second slip with captain Kohli taking a sharp clean catch. He looked uncomfortable post-lunch and India have got another at the right time. The post-lunch session has seen a dramatic start with India wasting another review after Rassie van der Dussen was trapped in front by Umesh Yadav. The ball was going over the stumps and van der Dussen lives to fight another day. The contest is getting more and exciting with van der Dussen surviving run-out chances as well. At the moment, he and Keegan Petersen hold the key for South Africa as they continue to pile pressure on India.

It's lunch then on Day 2 and what has a session it has been! India started off with dismissing Aiden Markram on just the second ball of the day and they ended Keshav Maharaj's resistance as well shortly after. But the Rassie van der Dussen and Keegan Petersen partnership, something which has yielded 55 runs so far, have managed to put the hosts in control of the innings. India would want some more wickets after lunch as the hosts continue to fightback.

Rassie van der Dussen and Keegan Petersen have led a fightback for South Africa on Day 2 after they lost the wickets of Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj. The duo have started to look confident and punished any poor ball that they have got.

Rassie van der Dussen and Keegan Petersen are out there at the crease and they would aim to rebuild the Proteas' innings after Umesh Yadav bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss Keshav Maharaj. The hosts have lost two wickets on Day 2 so far and they would want to have ideally one more before lunch.

South Africa are slowly starting to rebuild their innings with a Keegan Petersen and nightwatchman Keshav Maharaj at the crease. The duo have managed to negotiate the threat posed by the Jasprit Bumrah-Mohammed Shami duo. They have played some good-looking shots so far.

India have struck early on Day 2 and that has surely shifted the momentum in their favour. South Africa would need a partnership while India would expect to take one or two more wickets so that they can get into the Proteas middle-order.
