India was a step ahead of their opponents, England, as the Day 1 of the fourth Test match concluded at Southampton. The Indian bowlers ripped through Englandās top order and reduced the hosts to a below-par total of 246 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was Indiaās best bowler in the day as he picked up three crucial wickets.
Dismissing lower-order batsmen quickly has always been Indiaās problem. On Thursday, too, it was Sam Curran who stitched critical partnerships with Moeen Ali and Stuart Broad to push England to a respectable total. The young left-handed batsman was also the highest scorer for England as he scored 78 runs.
The Indian openers saw a brief window of play and negated any danger posed by Englandās bowlers. James Anderson and Stuart Broad bowled two overs each; however, they werenāt able to bowl disciplined lengths, which saw India end the day unscathed.
