It was on the day 2 of the fifth test match between India and England that English pacer James Anderson got into a verbal spat with umpire Kumar Dharmasena while he was batting at the Oval. It happened in the 29th over when the bowler appealed for an LBW which did not go his way and Anderson very rudely snatched the cap from Kumar Dharmsena, the on-field umpire. He even spoke very harshly to the umpire. This gesture of Anderson did not go unnoticed and he is imposed 15 per cent fine of his match fees. India in trouble again

“Anderson was found to have breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an International Match,” read the ICC website.  In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of the fast bowler, for whom it was the first offence since the introduction of the Revised Code in September 2016.

50 per cent of player’s match fees is the maximum penalisation for breaching Level 1. The charges were imposed by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Joel Wilson, third umpire Bruce Oxenford, all from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, and fourth umpire Tim Robinson. The English pacer accepted the offence and accepted the punishment and there was no formal hearing of the case.

Talking about the day 3 of India vs England test match, India made 186 runs for the loss of six wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Hunuma Vihar are currently batting for India. England has made 332 runs on the board.
