Bangladesh's Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim scored a gritty half-century but only managed to lower down the margin of defeat. The pacers played a vital role throughout the match and were the heroes of India's victory. Earlier in the day, India declared their innings on their overnight total of 493 runs. In reply, Bangladesh's top order was dismantled and their loss looked on the cards. However, Mushfiqur Rahim showed some resilience in Bangladesh’s second innings and registered his 20th half-century. He, however, didnt received much support from the other batsman and faced a defeat on the third day of the match.

With this, India add 60 points to their ICC World Test Championships points table tally and extend their supremacy even further. The second and the last Test of the series will go down in history as it will be the first Day-Night Test match for both sides. The match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and will start on October 22. The home side will aim to replicate their heroics on their pink-ball debut while the Bangla Tigers will eye a comeback in the series.
